Photo taken just outside of Willits California. I was lucky enough to be able to visit the US in late 2007. On our way up the California coast we stopped to spend some time in the Redwood National Forest. Just before we headed to see these magnificiant trees we stopped at a town called Willits. / I decided to go for a wander while waiting for my friends and I happened upon a rail line. First I found a sign advertising the Skunk train then I followed the line over a small bridge and found this water tower. Immediately I thought of the old TV show Petticaot Junction. I could just see the girls swimming in the tank while uncle Joe was hollering for them to come do their chores. When I was growing up we had a similar tank just outside the small town where I lived but sadly vandles damaged it so badly that it had to be pulled down. I hope this tank remains as an icon of yeater year when steam trains ruled the lines…
