One of Perth’s most photographed waterscape. The best photographs tend to be those unplanned moments that don’t come along all to often, when mother nature and timing cross paths. As Ansell Adam said: ””A good photograph is knowing where to stand”” but I think it is also knowing…when. I think I was extremely luck to catch this moment, as I have seen hundreds of photos of this place, but I think I have captured the amazing symmetry that the nature hides most of the time.

Home Sweet Home. The Blue Boathouse, Mounts Bay Road, Perth. Western Australia. I’ve finally dragged my lazy feet to the Blue Boathouse down at Mounts Bay Road, Perth. Despite being a 20 minute drive by the freeway, I never seem to allocate the right time to visit this magnificient icon. It’s possibly one of the most photographed building in Western Australia, and I cannot object it anyway if it was. edits: Realigned, adjusted contrast/brightness. A winter`s evening on the Swan river with the reflections of the City of Perth. I had to wait awhile to shoot this image as some months before there had been a gas explosion up north and WA was on limited gas supplies and consequently all the city`s lights were getting turned off, however I think it worked in my favour, as the cooler winter weather enhanced the blues of the image.

The Crawley Edge Boatshed on the Swan River, One of the most iconic landmarks in Perth. The Boatshed is believed to have been built in the 1930’s. Sometimes a scene is so tranquil and serene, and the light is so soft, that you feel like wrapping your arms right around it. / I photographed an old timber bridge in the country with autumn leaves and fog, years back in the days of colour slides, and this is the closest that I have come to experiencing that same feeling. And that’s good, considering that in Perth and Fremantle fog is almost as rare as snow (i.e. none) / As the sun tipped the horizon, behind the camera, it passed behind a wispy cloud and anything that was not white, like the white on the boats and one building, glowed orange. I trust I have done the scene justice. Konica Minolta A200, on a sturdy tripod, of course. Post processing – Aperture – HDR rendered for the greatest realism I could obtain.
