There’s something about a wren that’s sassy and saucy. This perky little songbird’s got a loud mouth, a brisk, brash way about it, and tons of attitude. Tail up in the air, it seems to be saying, “I may be small, but nobody’s gonna step on me!”
Sexy blonde posing very seductively.
Taken at the Perth Zoo in Western Australia. He looked so tired and fed up, such a shame he is not able to roam free! / . /
This is yet another shot of my little sweetheart.:) I took this with an old external flash that belonged to my father.

The Carolina wren is among my favorite birds. I love the way it holds its tail straight up in the air and the way it sings so loudly. You’d never expect such a tiny bird to be able to belt out the songs it does! I also like its scowl; it always appears to be grumpy about something. A little bird that’s big on personality, that’s for sure. Another thing I like about wrens is the way they build tiny igloo type nests inside potted plants like ferns and such. I’ve often watered ferns and was almost hit in the face by a fleeing wren. When something goes awry, like a snake showing up where it doesn’t belong, they sound a warning. If ever you hear a wren chirping loudly and complaining incessantly, you’d better check things out; it’s probably trying to point out some danger. This little wren was sitting on the wall of my patio looking for something to nibble on. He gave me all of two seconds to snap his photo and then he was off like a jet.
Cicerello’s Landing – Fremantle It’d been a beaut drive up from Margaret River to Perth. We’d stopped off a lot here and there to do the tourist thing, and the weather was very damp and blustery, so we’d been on the road for a while. We were really tired. But … we only had a short window to get down to the famed and fabled Freo and we weren’t going to miss it. / Being late on a Sunday arvo there were no ferries, so we hopped on a train and headed down. Well worth it. Fremantle was even more beaut than we expected. / We just wandered around with no idea which way was up but enjoyed the the sunset, the old buildings and the simple charm of the place… and of course we had to eat. / Pure luck brought us to Cicerello’s Landing. It was getting a bit late, the weather was rubbish so, although Cicerello’s was far from empty, alfresco was not an enticing option… except for a photo op… and this is it. / And would I recommend Cicerello’s fine tucker? Too right I would. Cicerello’s Landing will be one of our main reasons for getting back to Freo… :-) / © Copyright – 2009 Jeff Catford / / Kit: / Nikon D200 – Sigma 10~20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM Exposure: / 17mm / f10×7 exposures – 1/10sec ~ 7.1secs / Post Processing: / Photomatix Pro – PSE – Noiseworks – Topaz Adjust – lots of interruptions / / Best viewed LARGE
