  • Travelling on the London Underground is a unique experience, despite being surrounded by the bustling throng of people and business in a major city, you are often alone, nobody speaks or looks at you – millions of people living in parallel lives and worlds creating a modern day oxymoron – how can you be so alone, when surrounded by so many?

  • This collection of Urban Landscapes is drawn from a larger body of work called Darkscapes. They are moody evocative invitations into mystery and imagination taken from the ordinary things that make up the fabric of city life. Beauty is all around us if only we take the time to notice it. We all look but maybe we don’t all see. This collection of images is a way for me to share what I see with others. This was taken in a tunnel underneath St James Station in Sydney. Whoosh! how close was I to the train to get this shot hey. / . /

  • This was taken from a second floor garage across from 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore City, MD. I really like this one. It has a really conceptual feeling to it.

  • cologne 2005 Canon Powershot A410,don’t remember the iso speed^^

  • This was a fluke. I got off the train and was taking pictures randomly and I waited for someone to walk past and it turned out like this. I’m glad that I could actually hold my camera still for it. / My favourite part is the reflection of the tree in the backround. xx / s-a

  • The day is cold, windy and wet. Victorian Railways locomotive K160 has rolled in to Castlemaine station, in central Victoria. The sky is turning black with a storm brewing. The Guard of the train approaches the driver to discuss the next movements of the day. These two characters themselves bring an element of the relaxed way of life on the railways, while always keeping to time – the trusty old wrist watch on the drivers arm. Soon the train shall depart to its destination, Maldon. Jonathan can be contacted at: sales@vistavisionphotography.com Please email to inquire about ordering prints larger than 30inches

Very Inebriated Person. The first person I saw in the train journey back from a beautiful day in Weymouth, was this chap who seemed a bit the worse for wear. He was fast asleep with an open bottle of VIP Cream Sherry on the table in fromt of him. I think he did the best thing by taking a swig and passing out, as a bottle of that down your neck wouldn’t do your stomach much good!

About 4 months ago my sister told me that one of her friends was looking through our photos from our 2008 Europe trip. Her friend works for a publishing company, and was impressed by the shots she saw, and wanted to use them in a book on Paris she was publishing. While I was excited at the time, didn’t get my hopes up about it, until it was actually done. In true Parmi style, I totally forgot about this until today, when a copy of the book turned up in the mail for me! The book is set for release on Dec 1st I am currently in a state of shock that 6 photos (5 of mine and 1 of my sister’s) have been used in the book! I had to make a journal entry to commemorate the event :) Below are the shots from the book and the original photos that I took while in Paris. So fitting that the book itself is PARIS – A Personal Guide To The City’s Best. A 300+ page hard cover book on Paris culture, dining, accommodation, mixed in with some of Bennett’s French recipes. (Shannon Bennett is the owner of internationally renowned restaurant, Vue de monde in Melbourne) Given that Paris is quite possibly my favourite city I have visited so far, this was poetic in it’s own way. / Paris Underground / My sister’s photo / Notre Dame / Notre Dame / Notre Dame / Pantheon Link to the book online All book shots taken from Shannon Bennett’s PARIS – A Guide To The City’s Best. Published by The Miegunyah Press 2009, copyright to Melbourne University Publishing Limited. Edit: I left to make a cup of coffee and came back to a massive outpouring of encouragement and congrats from so many of you! YOU GUYS ROCK! I am so supported on here by all of you and I can’t even express in words how incredible that feels! Thank you just doesn’t cut it!!! :)
