  • This is one of my most loved pieces. It is a very popular art work, and I could never part with it, so I’ve decided to sell it as prints and t-shirts. / It was painted with acrylic on canvas. The original is approximately 13(cm)x18(cm). / It was painted on 14 July 2006. This was my first attempt at a vintage nude! I am a great fan of vintage nude art work; photography and paintings. • Barack Obama is 2008’s “Person of the Year” as declared by TIME Magazine. I think it’s amazing that we were all able to witness history in the making with him winning the 2008 Election. I decided to do a series of Obama portraits in recognition of his achievements.

  • Experimenting with Digital TTV ( – Not a Photoshop filter) – my first time! This is a very anonymous picture. Each of the three visible characters (dog included) are entirely personality-less, due to their backs being turned or heads obscured. And yet, the camera’s angle is facing up to the characters, from a very low angle. Draw conclusions to this as you wish.

  • Walking back to camp, I came across this lady. She had all sorts in her bundle. Old shoes, sticks, a pick axe and other bits and bobs. Rundu, Namibia. Febuary 2007.

  • Abstract print zentai suit on a zebra print background

  • Art, it is what it is. Just a quick painting done mostly with a napkin, my fingers and a knife. Acrylic on canvas with more of a watercolor effect – done very quickly and very roughly. A little something to clear my mind. Less is sometimes more. /

  • What defines me? Without using a single living being in my photograph? Here is the answer: A self portrait – capturing my cast shadow on the dune sand. I grew up in the desert, and therefore in a second world country (and not quite in the first world). Living conditions and the dry surroundings defined and conditioned me. I am very water conscious, frugal, inventive, resourceful, adventurous, nomadic, with a hint of gypsy-like blood in me. The textured and rippled dune sand could reflect many things: The immense love for textures, not just in art forms and photographs, but also in life. There is no room for mediocrity, but everything done slightly out of the norm, with life’s small ripples and speed bumps taken with a sense of humour and a sense of adventure. Slightly adjusted layers and light in Photoshop. Taken April 2009, Namibia © Gudrun Eckleben, www.geeart.com

  • Another entry from my leather moleskin journal. This was a reflection on how we’ve all got so many untold stories. I don’t want to go to my grave without passing on my stories that are worth passing on especially if there’s a chance those stories could affect or help another in any positive way. The same goes for my whole family…. I don’t want them passing without me finding out their important untold stories. I still don’t know half as much as I’d like to know about my Grandfather’s prisoner of war days and he passed many a year ago. So that story is with my Dad now and once he’s gone the story will be too. Perhaps I’ll sit down with Dad soon and write it all down? And then there’s so many of my own personal stories that only I, myself know. One’s that Im’ just not ready to share with another yet… whether emotional, physical or spiritual I just can’t put them out there just yet. I am sure one day though I’ll probably be ready to share them. What untold stories do you have that you’d like to make sure get passed on before you die?
