They were out on the same walk She saw buildings / He saw the sky She saw shadows / He saw the shadows of birds that fly She saw a crack / He saw a crevice She saw a hole / He saw a ditch She saw the homeless / He saw the rich She saw a rock / He saw a diamond When they got home they looked into each other’s eyes, / How shall we ever agree on this life at the same time? / They said all at once / Well… / She said / We must learn to revel in our differences / Lets go against society, / Every time I see differently or you do / Lets break out the champagne and the sweet meats / Every time one sees a problem.. Lets celebrate for the other / Every time one sees a solutions lets do it again … / Celebrate / Celebrate each other.. And then we will loose track of / Perfect timing cause every moment will be just perfect!! The first form of perfume was incense. Incense was first discovered by the Mesopotamians about 4,000 years ago. Ancient cultures burned many kinds of resins, bums and woods at their religious ceremonies. They often soaked the fragrant woods and resins in water and oil, and rubbed their bodies with the liquid. They also embalmed the dead with these perfumes.> Early Europeans used many different containers to store their perfumes.> They used glass, gold, silver, porcelain, gems, pearls, semi-precious stones and various shells. Perfume was commonly used in the form of incense.> Some incense burners consisted of a container held from chains. It was swung like a pendulum during Mass in the Christian Church. There were also stationary incense burners used in Churches.> Some perfume containers were designed to be worn. Semi-precious stones held perfumes and were pinned to clothing. Silver earrings were worn that contained perfume soaked fabric inside them.> Many containers were designed to be hung around the neck, from a belt, or from a finger ring.> Perfume bottles were always handcrafted and designed by artists, jewelers and goldsmiths. A self-portrait within a self-portrait. The giant face was drawn freehand by me using white charcoal & white chalk pastel on 22×30” black paper. It is the self-portrait assignment I’ve been working on for my drawing class, it’s not quite finished, hence the imperfections, but I thought that fit nicely with the concept I was going for. The idea is that we sometimes see ourselves in a distorted manner; working on this drawing I’ve noticed certain details and flaws on my face that I’ve never fully observed before because I’ve never had to study and look at my face for such long periods of time. / Through our distorted self-perceptions, we often feel the need to recreate or modify ourselves to be the way we want to be both inside and outside. And this is what my cousin Happy feet 5 wrote when she saw this image and read the titles given !! I came upon a piece of art / a fractal I was told / and as I kept looking at it / I was mesmerized / My heart stood still / it went on hold. For as I kept on looking at this strange beauty / different things came into my mind. / At first it was a Madonna and child in the womb / waiting with love for when it was time / to hold him in her loving arms / cooing him and letting him know that everything would be fine. Suddenly the image changed / every thing began to swirl / I saw dancing and some swirling / to music that was divine / and my heart stood still / for the rhythm and its symphony came from heaven / and it beckoned me to follow / and mesmerized I didn’t want to be left behind. / What I saw was veiled emotions / with cycles of green / and as I swirled and twirled / I fell into an abyss of visual symphony. / Oh, what great ecstasy. / Isa, you painted music

In his long narrative, “Milton”, Blake describes how the author of “Paradise Lost” returned from heaven and entered Blake’s foot in the form of a comet. Afterwards, the familiar world of the five senses turned into a shoe. Blake tied the shoe and walked with the Spirit of Poetry to the City of Art. A few years later, back in the ordinary world, Blake saw a twelve-year- old girl flying down to him. He mistook the girl for one of his own muses, and invited her into his cottage to visit with him and his wife, who could also see and hear “the spirits”. The girl explained that she was actually looking for John Milton. The older poet emerged from Blake’s foot, and in an apocalyptic scene, the ordinary world was transformed along with all of human perception. / Acrylics, metallic pigment and ink

I took a series of new tree graffiti images that have depth of color and texture and a myriad of imagery. I see so much in this projective material that I will reserve my perceptions to allow the viewer complete freedom to tell me what you see and if there is a story attached to this painterly image. I thought the small globe on the left side was an interesting addition to this graphic. /

My latest entry for the Boredom Competition- I finally decided it would be cheating to use my last weeks entries with my hat although I think they fit this week’s theme of self-portraits better :) Did a little work in photoshop to get the selective coloring and the usual touch-ups. Hard frost last night. Took my camera with us for our walk this morning to get pics of the grasses and berries. / This image is a fractal – Generalised Phoenix I formula – which I combined with one of the pics in Textures section of Fractal Explorer. / Just getting back into the swing of things so please excuse me not commenting for a few days. Most of us in of the village where I live are suffering with heavy head colds and life is a bit unpleasant being unable to breathe properly. A few halves of Grouse tonight will be the remedy:-)

My rant- / In the journey to self acceptance its a tricky tricky road / With the grass always greener on the other side… / Why are we pressured to keep ourselves hidden, clothed, covered from the world… made to feel unworth… when one doesnt fit the ‘mould’ / Western Society tries to corrupt us to be ashamed of what we are, at the same time as encouraging us to be confident and self assured… / Amid brainwashing us all what we should look like and how we should act… / What a mind job… Ok, So since having my child two years ago confidence has not been a strong point… :) / One looks in the mirror and sees a stranger :) / (who stole my body? – i swear i used to be bigger lol) / But slowly as time goes by i’m learning to accept what i am once more / and so, in an effort to get that to sink in…, here i am. :) As my other half says to me, Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes :) / and True Beauty is from within! / so screw the outer beauty thang, for its inner beauty i truly strive for! / (inner beauty also, with a little willpower, does not succumb to age… / ...unlike the flesh) Peace N Luv Trippaz :)

Another piece for my photography final, “Fragmented Self-Image”. I can’t help but constantly compare myself to others whom I think are more attractive or better than I am. / I’m bound and powerless to the need to compare myself no matter what I do. / I’ve been like this even before my eating disorder, and I have no doubt that this was a major influence in what caused me to have an eating disorder.

The original is 30” x 24” acrylic on stretched canvas. Look into the center. Take a deep breath in. Hold it…. and then let it out.. Relax your vision and breath deeply. For some, you will see the flames move and burn.

I am the elephant. Only in the sense that I had the experience once of looking at a dragonfly which was vibrating its head back and forth. I believe it was trying to comprehend in some way the large mass (or elephant) which hd intruded between it and the sky. When you look into the lving world, what looks back? How do we take in what we see? There are questions but not, I think, answers in these matters.
