Those that own a Nintendo Wii will know how much fun there is trying to create your own Miis to look like famous people. The early Beatles, circa 1967/68 and the Sgt Pepper album seemed to lend themselves well to the Mii treatment, so Let Me Introduce You To, The act you’ve known for all these years…

This photo at first glance seems to be a nude woman next to the pond. The effect would not be there, if this was in color…since the nude is actually a green pepper. This was taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ7.

I visit my mom once a year, for about two weeks. And I spend time trying to capture things, the way I remember them. Things that do not exist anymore. Things that remind me of my childhood, and the times gone by. Today, I took out stuff from mom’s pantry. Some of it goes back to my grandmother, maybe even before that…
The red hot pepper looks just like a Red Habanero, however this pepper is very very hot and used for soup and strews in Ghana and other West African, South American ,countries. This variety is also popular in Latin American countries, because the pretty 2 in. long red peppers offer the same strong aromatic essence and flavor.
Summer is not too far away and this soup is a great way to consume that flood of tomatoes when you grow your own. Come to think of it, this tastes great anytime, so why wait? Cream of Tomato and Basil Soup 1 Onion / 4 Garlic Cloves / 1 Long Sweet Red Pepper / 12 Medium Size Tomatoes / 2 oz or 50g Butter / 250ml Chicken Stock / 75ml Double Cream / 1 Desert Spoon of Dried Basil / Some Fresh Basil / ¼ Tsp Ground White Pepper / 1 Level Tsp Sea Salt Peel and chop the garlic cloves and the onion. De-seed and chop the long sweet red pepper. Melt the butter in a large saucepan and add the onion, garlic and sweet red pepper. Cover and simmer gently stirring now and then until the onions are soft – about ten minutes. Meanwhile, cut the tomatoes in half, splitting where the stalk was. Cut out a V to remove the hard stalk remnants and roughly chop the tomatoes. Add them to the other ingredients and bring everything back to a simmer. Add the dry basil, salt and pepper, cover, and let it all stew gently for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Add the chicken stock and simmer gently for another ten minutes. Remove from the heat and now blend all the ingredients in a liquidiser or with an electric hand blender. Return it to the saucepan, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Stir in 50ml of double cream saving 25ml for presentation. Serve with some torn fresh basil leaves and a swirl of cream. Revel in the taste, consume luxuriously then relax for ten minutes. Take the dog for a walk. FEATURED OCT 2009 JAZZED UP ART / Image shot in my home away from home, Old Town Dubrovnik, where I love to watch the pigeons. This one struck me with his despondent mood. This shot always reminded me of Art Pepper’s powerful song. I was looking tonight for Lost Life and found this video instead. One of the best pieces of music I have ever felt, takes over at around two and a half minutes…the lead in is an intriguing insight into the prison experiences of Art Pepper. The rosette window belongs to the church of St.Saviour, built between 1520-1528, and depicted in my other work below Light in the Darkness / To go to the Youtube link (in a new window), simply press CTRL and click on the video screen above. / Nikon D70s / Nikon 70-300mm lens / f/6.3 / 1/1250sec exp time / 200mm focal length / PSE editting for contrast; no crop
