One of my favorites. Having spent 17 years woolclassing I was determined to include the woolshed smell in this one. Can you smell it? / The original is not quite so contrasty. / This picture has just been sold and now lives in New Zealand with its new owner..
An Excerpt from ‘Joy and Sorrow’ When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Some of you say, ‘Joy is greater than sorrow,’ and others say, ‘Nay, sorrow is the greater.’ But I say unto you, they are inseparable. Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed. Kahlil Gibran

Found out yesterday that two of my images managed second and third in the Penola Coonawarra Acquisitive photographic competition!!! Made my day!!! and the prizes are pretty cool too….. Waiting…(2nd) and Stallions Rampant (third) certainly give a bit more publicity to Rymill Coonwarra Winery who are holding our exhibition. For those of you who know Shane (Smarti77) a wonderful artist with whom I share the exhibitions, it might be worth congratulating him, he sold two images on Thursday while I was hanging them in preparation for the exhibition! Well done Shane…. Back to more work!!!!!

This photo was taken in Penola… a little tourist town in Southeast South Australia. It is a very interesting old building with lots of history no doubt, which I am going to try and find out about in the near future.

These beautiful old trees are the first thing you see when you drive in the gates of period home “Yallum Park”. Just out of Penola, South Australia, these trees always remind me of the forest in the “Harry Potter” movies.

The softness of butterflies…....This one was sitting delicately on a small flowering plant at the ‘Menzies’ retreat at Yalumba Wines – Coonawarra -during last nights stay. Canon 400D Sigma 120 -400 with four stage expansion tubes, manual focus hand held.
Loading this one up for fun. I know it’s out of focus but that makes it even better for me. Tried to sneak up on a butterfly this morning and get a close up and as I pushed the shutter release it turned, showed me its backside and was gone. How fast are these damn things. Anyway loaded this up for the laugh! Canon 400D with Sigma 120 -400 with four stage extension tubes, hand held manual focus. (No wonder it was gone before I got it focussed!)
Taken on a day trip round some old ruins.
