Path leading down Auchope Rig toward Cocklawfoot farm and the Bowmont Valley in the Scottish Borders region of the Cheviots, Scotland
A view in the English Lake District National Park from the fell of Mardale ill Bell towards the ridge that I had come up from Haweswater on my ascent of High Street. / The hills on the distant skyline are the Northern Pennines, part of the hills that make up the central backbone of England. / The lovely Eden Valley sits just under them. / Sony Alpha 350 DSLR HDR 3 shot autobracket tonemapped in Photomatix / Best Viewed Large / Featured in HDR Photography in June 2009 /
Acrylic on board. Worked from a photograph taken whilst visiting friends in Cheshire.
This is near where I live in Meltham West Yorkshire. It took me a while to get the look I was after in Lightroom/Photoshop and of course I can’t remember how I did it now.
What is it about you, makes me feel this way? / When I’m leaving you, when I’m coming home / I’m lost for words to say. / And I know your faults and failures, / And the troubles that you’ve been through. / But it’s more about what happens now / And what were coming to. And the echo from the green hills / Runs through her city streets, / And the sun that shines on England / Well it lifts the heart in me. What is it about you, that took men into war? / Rows and rows of crosses: Who remembers why what for? / The corners of these foreign fields, / The dust in them concealed. / Out of sight but not out of mind, / Don’t you know that England feels? And the echo from the green hills / Runs through the city streets. / The rain that falls on England / Well it washes care from me. Nikon D300 – 28.12.08

Gordale / The out flow of the river as it runs through the valley after cascading down the waterfall at Gordale Scare

My favourite time to be out and about with a camera is just as a rain storm is brewing. There’s always the chance of getting soaked to the skin, but the rewards are generally worth it!
the main fall. this is the fall dropping into gibsons cave, carved out by the force of the waterfall. the whinsill, is a black dolermite rock, which is a hard black rock resistant to erosion. the whinsill crosses the country, and hadrians wall is in part built upon it.
Alston Moor in Cumbria…. / A visit to the pet store turned into a long drive across the moors, into the hills looking for snow…....;-) / Hope that makes you smile Terri…..
