I would love to start a group just for penguin pictures. Since all new groups require two hosts, would anyone be interested in joining me? I think these little guys deserve a group of their own to showcase their beauty. I would also like to be part of a group for remote controlled items. I have several pictures of RC cars and helicopters, but don’t really see a group that’s appropriate. I’m open to helping someone else co-host a group they want to start if you’d like to do a trade-off. I’m on RB practically every day (yes, my addiction is that bad, lol), so you wouldn’t have to worry about having a dead-beat co-host. =)

I’ve been back now for nearly 2 months, my holiday seems like something I did years ago now, and I still have about 2500 photos to go through but don’t seem to have the time or energy right now. I want to thank everyone for the sales too. It’s so incredibly exciting to get that little notification in my inbox to say I’ve sold something. Thank you to the buyers, whoever you are – it is much appreciated.. And what i’ve sold just recently?... 4 of these (cards) / 1 card of this.. / 1 card of this.. / and a mounted print today….. / I’m so pleased about the sale of the little blue penguin – they are gorgeous birds, and their feathers feel more like fur than feathers. Tonight, a few hours ago, I watched the second episode of Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy. The one were Ford Prefect turns into a penguin. I log onto Red Bubble, hours later, and the screen is full of penguins. If I blink, will they all turn into Ford Prefect? What factor of improbability would that be? Can you calculate?

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their wishes and condolences about the loss of my parents place in Marysville. My mum Vicki..
Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their wishes and condolences about the loss of my parents place in Marysville. My mum Vicki has some great photos of the area that you should all check out. I haven’t been able to go to Marysville yet and at least not for a while because the town is still being designated as a crime scene. The whole thing hasn’t even really set in for me yet, I don’t think it will until I see it first hand. Secondly someone stole one of my images and entered it into a competition without me knowing. A teenage girl stole my image of Hosier Lane and entered it into a competition called Expose your World. This really pissed me off as she was a finalist in the competition and received accolades as well as the photo getting published in Australian Traveller Magazine. The image was due to be shown in an exhibition in NSW next month but luckily one of my friends saw the image on a website and I was able to ring the appropriate people and explain the situation. I can’t believe someone would actually steal a photo and enter it into a national competition and think that the could get away with it! Shortly I will upload some pics from a Melbourne Aquarium visit which was awesome, I absolutely loved the penguins and could watch them swim around all day!

I can’t go to either of these, as we are celebrating Zac turning the ripe old age of 11 that day!!! If you go to either Dave or Steve’s walk, or any of the other ones throughout the world, don’t forget to post a photo so the rest of us can see what a great day you had! Dave Hartley has registered to host one of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walks at Mannum, South Australia on 18 July 2009. / It begins by meeting at Cafe Mannum, then a walk down to the Mary Ann reserve and back again finishing at the Mannum Motel. The Scott Kelby world wide walk was set up by Scott Kelby (surprise!!) who is an expert on photography and the Photoshop program. He has written something like 60 tutorial books and videos. The walk is free, open to all ages and photographic experience… from beginners to pros. It lasts around two to three hours. Afterwards, someone picks the best image taken on the day, and they win one of scotts books and is entered into a world wide competition. This is not a workshop, just a group getting together to walk around Mannum and (hopefully) get some great photos! If you are intending to go, you need to register your interest at WorldWide Photo Walk, Mannum or contact Dave Hartley for any further details. Steve Chapple also has a Worldwide Walk at Beachport Meeting at the Beachport Jetty (Beach Road) at 2.30pm for a stroll around the point to look over at Penguin Island, then along Wendy’s walk back to the jetty. The Wharfside restaurant there will have coffee waiting for us at the end. You can register at the same website as Dave’s… under Millicent Beachport. Both of these Worldwide Photo Walks are in South Australia, but there’s heaps of Worldwide Walks happening on Saturday, 18 July 2009…maybe there’s another one near you. There’s separate listings for both the USA and everyone else. Whichever one you can make it to, have a wonderful time and best of luck for the competition!!!

Well, I’m back from Cyprus and am several shades darker. It would also seem that my girlfriend Claire was right, I did need a holiday. Sitting by a pool with the blazing sun on my skin with a sketch book in hand, served to be the perfect conditions to fuel my creative spark. I produced 8 line drawings on that holiday. EIGHT! Added to the 2 line drawings I did before hand and the one I’ve done today, thats now 11 paintings on the go. This is the most I’ve had running at any one time and I don’t feel daunted by it. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be preparing for my October gallery joint showing with my mum, so I won’t be posting too many blogs until time permits but I will tell you this… I am working on two projects. One is pretty big and I’m not going to reveal too much about it yet but the other is what was started in Cyprus. This project is titled Gotham’s Rouge Gallery and will comprise of 12 paintings (possibly 16). As you will see, the theme is Batman villians and they will depict: 1. The Joker / 2. Harvey Two Face / 3. Poison Ivy / 4. The Penguin / 5. The Riddler / 6. Scarecrow / 7. Harley Quinn / 8. Bane / 9. Catwoman / 10. Mr Freeze / 11. Ra’s Al Ghul / 12. The Mad Hatter (possibly) / 13. The Ventriloquist (possibly) / 14. Clayface (possibly) / 15. Killer Croc (possibly) / 16. Batman… the dastardly vigilante himself. Numbers 1 to 7 have already been done and more will be on the go soon. But you should know, I am putting my own take on the characters… which is risky (don’t wanna be upsetting the comic book fans).
