Estelle, an overly beautiful life-model and dancer, with incredible curls. Theatre Box is one from a series where I have taken the same sketch and added layers to create different scenes. Enormous fun in doing so, like dressing up a doll. Pencil drawing, digital overlay.

Most people have cats or dogs as pets, but not this little miss. She’s adores insects and has made friends with a darling little blue caterpillar. The name ‘inchworm’ is from a song in the 1952 film, Hans Christian Anderson – which I’m fairly sure was redone by the Muppets. :) ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... These two didn’t have names…..just their breeders names. They got called ‘puss’. A lovely Maine Coon and a Siamese. A commission that was a surprise for the clients husband. It was a joy to take the reference photos for this piece, both cats playing away, content, and then the Siamese deciding I had to play too…a game of ‘fetch’ with a shoe lace :) / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 38×48cm 2004 Featured in ‘Domestic and Pedigree Cats’, ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ and ‘Cats and Dogs’ groups.

by Heidi GarnerThis is a detail shot of a commissioned portrait of “Ki’. This lovely 3yo girl was lost to cancer much to the sorrow of her owner, who did everything she could to give Ki a great life. The day we went out for the photo shoot Ki was so happy and full of life, playing fetch in the park with us. Ki was the perfect model, providing me with beautiful photos to work with. The presentation of the portrait to the owner was emotional indeed. / Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 25×36cm 2008 Has been featured in the ‘Cats and Dogs’, Pencil Drawing’ and ‘Painted Dogs’ groups.

Graphite Pencil on Cartridge (2B, 3B, 4B and F) I did this drawing circa 1984! It is exactly the way I remember my grandfather. He always wore his cap at this jaunty angle! He was very disappointed that his son (my father) and my mother produced a girl and he used to call me ‘Jack’! I produced the drawing from a faded old photograph, and it was used as an illustration in a book written about the village in England where I was born. This is a pencil portrait of an old friend from a little while ago…. / Ever since I’ve known her, she’s exuded a serenity and calming influence wherever she is, yet also possesses a sharp wit ;) I hoped to have picked up on some of those traits here.
