American Route 66 southwestern and western old highway cityscape gas station American watercolor painting poster fine art modern print. Gas pumps back in history when the United States gas prices were much lower. Mobilgas old pumps along the old road when traveling through historical USA. Pen and in and pencil drawing watercolor wash. Colors are very America blue, red, white, green and yellow. Trees and mountains are in the background along with a light blue sky.

I saw some manicured bushes as I was walking one day and took some shots of them, they looked animated to me, some gardener landscaper had given them haircuts and made them stylized. I wanted to do something with it so I developed a sort of old forties B-movie scenario with the bushes being the invaders from outer space and a fallen damsel. Anyway I had a barrel of fun doing it. Thanks for looking and have great New Year. The bush image had some hue and saturation done to it and was sized and duplicated and set in rows of six then that layer was duplicated as many times as necessary, all rows were scaled to a perspective. The flames were made with brushes and blended and dropped on separate layers and scaled. The floor was an original photo/perspective to fit. Dropshadows of the bushes were put in. The female is clip art which is blended to the floor. The space ship was added and the spot lights were drawn and colored. /

The barquentine, Waterwitch (built 1871) gets into trouble leaving the mouth of the river Tyne. Struggling against the angry power of nature, as a sudden storm rolls in from the moody, north sea..’’’ Behind is a top gallant schooner, also being beaten back. In the background, is the red painted ‘Groyne’ lighthouse (1882), of South Shields. I’ve used two Victorian ship photos, as reference for details of the two ships. Bockingford rough, 10” x 7” / 140lb blue-tinted watercolour paper. *I’ve entered this into the ‘Storm Challenge’ *
