TOBY AND TABATHA IN THE TINY CITY Toby and Tabatha were taking an early morning walk one summer’s day, when they chanced upon a tiny city, built on the outskirts of their town. While Tabatha peered over one of the castellated walls of the city, Toby leaped over it and sat happily on a cobbled street to gather his thoughts for while. The two cats felt they had been transported into another era. The few people they saw on the street were tiny and dressed in Victorian costume. A soldier courageously stood guard close to where Toby sat. Slightly past the soldier, a well-dressed lady had stopped for a moment, apparently lost in thought. Neither of the characters appeared to be in the least perturbed by Toby and Tabatha, which puzzled the two friends. Of course, what you may have guessed, but they have yet to work out, is that our two feline friends had wandered into the town’s brand new model village; not yet open to the public. Won’t Toby and Tabatha get a surprise when Mr. Grimshaw the Park Attendant arrives at nine o’clock to start his day’s work? They will actually get a big shock when they discover that Mr. Grimshaw, a grumpy man at the best of times, has an intense dislike of cats, however cute and fluffy they may be …. I am a cat lover and this is my own version of a “quilt”, consisting 300 cats, each with their own expressions and styles. At the very beginning, my idea was to create a tessellating pattern of the head of a cat (similar to what M.C. Escher did in some of his works). I then thought, instead of making the cats look all the same and monotonous, why not making them fun to look at?

I created this drawing with art markers and a micron .01 black pen. The paper is Stonehenge 100% Cotton, Vellum finish, 250 GSM, neutral ph/acid free paper. It is 8×8 inches. I absolutely LOVE this paper and plan to buy more in different sizes. It beats ANY Strathmore Bristol Papers, Hands Down! I just uploaded this new scan from my work!! I just completed this mixed media piece. The image size is 14×18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils. This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit. you will not see this species anywhere as I dreamed it up:) Any proceeds from the sale of prints and cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphis Mission. This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

Aristotle once said the elephant was “the beast which passeth all others in wit and mind”. Unfortunately, they are now increasingly threatened by poaching and human intrusion into their habitat. The original artwork measures 19×12.5 inches and was created with ink pen and liquid copper leaf, with a little bit of colored pencil work around the eye. Vector art is created using graphics software programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop and Inkscape. The pen tool is used to create points, lines and curves which make up the final image. Vector graphics files store the lines, shapes and colours that make up an image as mathematical formulae so that images can be increased in size without becoming pixelated. It takes some practice to master the art of using the pen tool but a little patience and persistence can result in some wonderful illustrations: As these examples demonstrate, vector graphics can be used to create all types of art, from basic logo designs to intricately illustrated scenes.
