Pisaba el Cementerio Sur de Carabanchel por primera vez desde el entierro de mi padre. Casi cinco años después el paisaje estaba dominado por las tumbas y las grúas que al fondo levantaban centros comerciales o viviendas junto a los muertos. Debí sonreír y pensé que los muertos sobrepuestos a la actividad de las inmobiliarias representaban un paradigma de la existencia en Madrid. Protesta, burla y evocación, "Madrid to Heaven" se levanta como un envío desde las pegatinas de correos estadounidenses, país desde el que ahora escribo. Son las mismas pegatinas que han sido claves en el desarrollo del arte adhesivo callejero estadounidense y que aún usamos a menudo para enviar mensajes en la calle. Contribución original para Madrid Poster Art 2009 / Sede 1 – viernes 27 marzo: inauguracion de la exposicion temporal en el Espacio Espora. / Sede 2 – sábado 28 de marzo: jornada de montaje colectivo en el Patio Maravillas Láminas & Camisetas. —-—-—-—— I was setting foot at the Cementerio Sur of Carabanchel in Madrid for the first time since my father was buried. Almost five years later the landscape was dominated by the succession of tombs with the construction cranes in the background, which were part of new commercial centers and blocks of apartments. I must have smiled as I thought that the overlap of the death over the real estate frenzy represented part of the paradigm of living in Madrid. Protest, mockery, and evocation based on the classic local saying "From Madrid to Heaven". It is built upon a delivery on US Post Office stickers. This are the same stickers that are classic to the development of sticker art in the USA and that are still widely used to send street messages. "From Madrid TO Heaven" is an original contribution to Madrid Poster Art 09 / Friday March 27 : Opening of the temporary exhibition at Espacio Espora / Saturday March 28: Public installation at Patio Maravillas Prints & T-shirts.
