  • cades cove in the great smoky mountains is notorious for the black bears. i am happy to say, this year has been an excellent year for viewing them. they have had food, and the park hasnt moved them out like they were caught doing last year. / yesterday morning shooting in the cove, i am upon a mama bear and her two cubs feeding in a cherry tree / this mama was after a particular branch, and she went up and down for it, finally chewing it off. / best if viewed larger

  • WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cub hiding behind mum! The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! (Spitzbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / /

  • as is… / this was a lucky shot . I was shooting flowers when I saw this grasshopper standing on a basketball base and gave it a try without changing my camera settings, to be sure not to miss it (yes, I quite often scare them ! lol) / I liked the dof and how it peeks out of the smooth and light surrounding. / and how curious this little cutie looks ^^ / so here it is =)

  • Last time…so sorry for uploading this so many times. For some reason I do not notice the issues that I want to correct until I upload the picture. Again, this picture was taken at Sand Banks Ontario. We hiked through several sand dunes to the top of this hill to watch the sunset. The reason I keep uploading and editing is because the silhouette of my wife was added through photoshop and I keep noticing that it is not blended well into the picture. I believe I have now corrected the issue. “W” for woman/wife for alphabet soup group

  • Image straight from the camera. Taken on January 11, 2009 with an Olympus FE-340 It was the first day of the year that the weather in London was beautiful so I spent the day outdoor walking through the parks, and the squirrels are very friendly. This particular shot was in Green Park. While I was trying to set-up my camera to take a photo, this little guy suddenly climbed up my leg! (I missed the opportunity to take its picture while it was there) I looked down at it, and it looks to the side as though saying “I didn’t do anything…” (see image in first comment), then it runs behind me and tries to climb up my knapsack; then runs in front me, spirals up the pole and pokes its head to the side going “Peek-a-boo!” After it climbed down I brought my hand out. It grabbed my finger for a little while, but took off before I could get a picture then :-( ... But atleast I captured the funny Peek-a-boo moment! The light and dark areas in the eye may look like the iris and the sclera of the eye, but that is actually caused by reflections; The dark bit at the bottom left corner of the eye is a reflection of myself with the camera:

  • Having admired the work of Tracey Mac and her little friend Manny I was over the moon to welcome a new member to our own family. Minny is a little shy, she is still getting to know us and is not at all sure about being thrust into the limelight here on RB. I assured her that you all would be a wonderfully supportive audience, so please… say hi and make her feel welcome :) Maybe if you ask her nicely she might even do a little dance for you.
