  • Jeffrey Smart is one of my favourite urban artists and I’m always looking for urban scenes that echo some of his paintings. Although this shot is nothing like a Smart painting, around the area where this shot is taken exsists quite a few structures that remind me of a few of his paintings. I have to go back and see if I can capture them with my plastic cameras. This image taken on my Diana, a medium format “toy camera” with Fuji 160 NPC film.

  • An Henri Cartier-Bresson Moment… Sometimes it crosses our way.

  • Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s not. (Oh, and the same applies to elevator buttons.)

  • Japan image – backstreet’s of Tokyo

  • A scene from a model of New York City’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, created with over 50,000 LEGO® elements by artist Sean Kenney.

  • Front Street / Cheeseburger in Paradise / Lahaina / Maui, Hawai’i

  • www.danadipasquale.com / O ME! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; / Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish; / Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?) / Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d; / Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me; / Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined; / The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? / / Answer. That you are here—that life exists, and identity; / That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse. - Walt Whitman

  • This is the Century Theater complex at the corner of Central Avenue and 1st Street in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It incorporates elements of Route 66 neon and the pueblo deco architecture made famous by the landmark Kimo Theater, located just down the street from here. This new complex anchors what has been an aggressive downtown revitalization project that has been partly financed by windfalls from Route 66 Corridor Preservation Act of 1996. Federal grants and state and local tax incentives have enabled city planners to capitalize on the Route 66 mystique and breathe new life into what had become a rather seedy looking downtown area just 10 -15 years ago. Now, it is a high-energy destination spot for tourists and locals alike, and its streets sing with the buzz of neon, the rumble of motors, and the hubub of pedestrians. Pentax K20D 3-shot panoramic, 1 second at F6.7, 200 ISO, 20mm.

  • Kodachrome reversal film 8 ASA had a tremendous brightness range. This morning I was running late and a few more people were around and some light traffic

  • I got here a little earlier than most times and there were some shoppers going to catch trains or trams. The traffic on the road was a little more than usual showing how the trams are restricted to the centre of the road with only two lanes of traffic passing between them and the footpath

  • Took a 3 minute exposure before sunrise and played with it a bit…. / The lights in the distance are from the Port of Brisbane. /

  • In 1958 you could still purchase milk by buying it in your own billy from a milkman who had churns on the back of his cart. In the centre of Melbourne the milkman went round not with a horse-drawn cart, but a motor truck with a flat tray so that he could put the cans on and off easily. None of the milk was refrigerated, as his was an early morning operation starting before sunrise, but still extending out to about 7.30 am when this was taken. In this part of Collins street there were cafes, and hotels, so he did a roaring trade.

  • Walking at this time of day was a bit busier than 12 months earlier.

  • most weeks I travel into the city to attend a seminar and I get there by train. It’s an excellent service taking an hour and a half or there abouts and then catch the light rail from Central and travel through the busy city to Darling Harbour…. I really like the light rail… it’s like a big catapillar slithering through the big city sights.. and this image is a quick snap I took as it crossed over George street on the way to Chinatown…. just a glimpse in the dark rainy night…. / . /

  • last upload for the day and it’s another wonky image of lights from the towering skyscrapers in Darling Harbour all reflecting into the water…. not in focus and not even all that special but heck it’s how I’m feeling at the moment… a bit out of focus and ready to channel some bright light / . /

  • City living, a way of life for some. / The hussle and bussle of going to and from is an artform in itself. / The flow of traffic and pedestrian activity is an alluring subject. / Add a little rain and Melbourne looks just perfect on a Tuesday. :) / / Art Folders… / / Entire Portfolio / Born From This Earth – Series / Hearts At War / Vehicular works / Architecture / Travel / B&W Photography / Transitional Industrial Utopian Series / Abstract / Models and Fashion Photography

  • Saturday Traffic along the Kwinana Freeway looking out towards Perth at dusk. Canon EOS 7D. This is the overpass for the upcoming Perth Sunset/Night Shoot that I am organising for Saturday November 21. Details Featured in: Western Australia.

  • A snapshot captured on an open top sightseeing bus at the junction between Broadway, Amsterdam Avenue and West 72nd Street (I think!!) / The original was in colour but I feel the sepia gives a stillness to what was a frenetic scene in reality. I also liked how it complemented what I think is an old Metro Station at the centre of the image. / Nikon E5600, cropped and processed in Sepia using Lightroom. Original: /
