  • Another my current series of Infrared landscapes all shot somewhere deep within the Hunter Valley at a friends place a couple of years ago. This particular one is a companion shot to big hill little cow and shows more of the hill and none of the cow. I am quietly enjoying the softness of the early morning light playing with the contours of the trees on the hill side….. enjoy

  • Ok Ok I know I said yesterday’s upload was the last of the big/little daniland IR landscapes….. but …... but I’ve had some interesting feedback on this series so I thought I’d put up another one…. maybe even two. The amazingly beautiful and talented Ange who is a very high level photoshop lecturer commented on a particular digital/analouge montage that I had posted ages and ages ago called starry valley five and in responding to her I realized that the source photo for that image was in fact one of the daniland images. So I thought I’d post the original image along side the digital montage so you all could see the difference in the two pictures. At the time of making the starry valley series I was convinced that the original negatives for the daniland series were too degraded to make convicing photographic works but my post production skills have improved somewhat and to be honest I’ve been pretty pleased with the response from so many people to them. So just for the hell of it here’s the original daniland shot taken in very low light at the end of a magnificent day in the Hunter Valley and you guys can compare it to the digital montage and decide for yourselves which you prefer.

  • Another example of Painting with Light as found in Peter Zentjens’ journal. Equipment used, included torch with narrow cardboard funnel and layer of tissue paper to diffuse excess light. / time: 15 seconds / Av: f8 / ISO: 80

  • The columns were created using Vue, there isn’t too many of them here in Bendigo to photograph, the rest in Photoshop. I lost count of the layers but there was a lot.

  • / This is the Cover of the Pear Journal...each page is a complete painting and illustrates different aspects of the fruit… Watercolour, Gold Leaf, Fabric, Collage, and Relief Calligraphy... “Fruits … like having their portrait painted. They seem to sit there and ask your forgiveness for fading. Their thought is given off with their perfumes. They come with all their scents, they speak of the fields they have left, the rain which has nourished them, the daybreaks they have seen.”...Cezanne…

  • How many times have we heard our mother tell us Come on, eat it! It’s full of good things! Well, here is proof that moms are always right!   Again, this is my starting image. Please refer to Renaissance Still Life for more details on how it was made. I selected only the fruit with the elliptical marquee tool, and discarded the rest. Then I sperized with the distort filter, and scaled everything to fit into the apple.         To obtain the final image, I mostly stacked three layers of this image of a red apple ornament over the fruit, blended in screen mode in various opacities. Finally, I adjusted levels for each colour channel separately.
