Background Information: / Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. • I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! It is found directly to the southwest of Sarajevo, bordering Mt. Igman. Bjelašnica’s tallest peak rises to an elevation of 2067 meters (6782 feet) above sea level. I found this tomcat beside weather observatory on highest peak of Bjelasnica mountain. Like he know that he is my top model of the day he changed few positions on this metal icy desk. So ladies and gentlemen I am very happy to introduce Tomcat – Climber.

  • A visit to Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Canada in early June afforded me a chance to capture this 2 image composite. Just a couple weeks prior, the lake was still frozen solid.
