Won the THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TAIL FEATHERS Challenge in the group “I love Birds” in May 2009 The White Peacock, contrary to popular belief is not an albino, because its eyes are blue, not pink. The white is a color mutation, and although it can carry other genes, such as the blackshoulder and white-eyed, they are not visible because of its completely white color. Males are, as their name implies, completely white. Faint eyespots can be distinguished in the train by a thin layer of off white that surrounds the ocelli. The actual seeing eyes of the birds are blue.It is speculated there may be a few white peafowl bred naturally in India. White was one of the first variations to be discovered and made popular, and has been around for many years. This was taken in the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden, Bogotá, Colombia.

This is not at all what I originally wanted. I was going for a Kiss metal rock kinda look. But the colors and patterns made me think of a Peacock so I added flowers instead and then it started looking like a sad bride, hence the “the” part in the title as in she was something to be desired.

The White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock. Its white colour makes it looks really magnificent and elegant. / / Please view the large image for best details! / Other Categories / Animals / Apes / Architecture / Baby Animals / Bears / Birds / Big Cats / Elephants / Fish / Insects / Macro / Nature / Reptiles
