Snow in Middelheim Park – Antwerp – Belgium
Acrylics & oil pastel on canvas 2008 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. This painting was directly inspired by one of the visions I had in the Native American “Deeksha” Healing/Blessing on New Year’s Eve. My eyes were closed. / I saw penetrating yellow light pouring and radiating out from behind my eyes. I was able to see things in a “Maxfield Parrish way” again. Now consider from whence I have come….. August 2006 I was given a drug to assist my heart; helping to end 40 years of continual “heart attack magnitude” chest pain and to keep me from slipping in and out of consciousness. It was a new, still somewhat experimental, drug on the market….aka “expensive”. In January 2007, after my 13th heart surgery, the drug was increased to get me past a difficult recovery. I began having elevating pressures in my eyes and pain like knives inside my eyes. Very rapidly I lost my peripheral vision, my color vision, and my central vision. My eyes had become extremely light sensitive; I was given the darkest glasses. This was in the middle of painting The Genetic Bill of Rights Painting Series. I had to sort my colored paints into shades of grey (which I fell into quite naturally from my formal art training); I continued to paint in color even though I could not tell you what color it was, apart from some incredibly intuitive color vibrations I would get; sometimes I could even hear the color. The signature piece of that series was painted when I had only a sliver of vision remaining in my left eye. / Because I had so little sensitive vision left, the Blind Society deemed it unreliable and trained me blindfolded. I painted the signature piece 80% blindfolded. It was a beyond trippy time for me!!! During this whole loss of vision, I had the Blind Society coming to my home to train me in skills and navigation. I was taught to use a blind cane. I learned to type and use voice recognition software. I was learning to cook by sound. One day I set out to get the mail: I was gone for two hours, had fallen into a bush, and returned with no mail in hand! I was so overwhelmed and challenged. After much painful testing, it was decided that the new drug was the cause of the blindness. I was left with a lousy choice and no guarantees from the medical community. In October 2007, I found myself a long way from home, down a road that I didn’t like nor was I sure I could reverse, go back to the fork in the road, and choose again. Morphine and the runaway bobsled to hell! So I stopped the drug! I began Chinese Tong Ren. / Miraculously, my sight returned, color too! My peripheral is still not as it was before the drug…..whose complaining?!!! Painting is like candy to me now; I was born with the gift, but now it means even more! My mind and soul are still playing catch up with all that happened. I do not understand the “taking” or the “giving back” of it all…..maybe it is for the comfort of others? I suppose the worst way to come away from such a trial would be with a “metaphorically myopic soul”? (I would like to hear your comments on my last statement, please. Write.) What we see can be such a distracting illusion to the essence of what is really there. Oddly, sometimes I miss the darkness. I remember the lessons of the darkness. As my Father would say, “I have made the circumference.” / Gratitude does not even begin to cover it!.... ~Mariam Muradian See the other paintings in this series! /

A statue watching over a cemetery… I swear I saw her move once.
These stones have Japanese Kanji written on. I found this one in a temple just by a pagoda containing Buddhist sutras. I`m not sure if they are written by the monks or by the locals and tourists who flock to this beautiful temple. !
(SITTIN’ ON) THE DOCK OF THE BAY / - written by Otis Redding and Steve Cropper / - lyrics as recorded by Otis Redding December 7, 1967, just three / days before his death in a plane crash outside Madison, Wisconsin / - #1 for 4 weeks in 1968 Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun / I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ come / Watching the ships roll in / And then I watch ‘em roll away again, yeah I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Watching the tide roll away / Ooo, I’m just sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Wastin’ time I left my home in Georgia / Headed for the ‘Frisco bay / ‘Cause I’ve had nothing to live for / And look like nothin’s gonna come my way So I’m just gonna sit on the dock of the bay / Watching the tide roll away / Ooo, I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Wastin’ time Look like nothing’s gonna change / Everything still remains the same / I can’t do what ten people tell me to do / So I guess I’ll remain the same, yes Sittin’ here resting my bones / And this loneliness won’t leave me alone / It’s two thousand miles I roamed / Just to make this dock my home Now, I’m just gonna sit at the dock of the bay / Watching the tide roll away / Oooo-wee, sittin’ on the dock of the bay / Wastin’ time (whistle) / / Copyright 2008 Julie – Julie Alexander. Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived. “Unknown” Nikon D200 50mm lens
In honor of the sextiling of Jupiter and Mars at 4:29pm EST/US on 10/27/08, I thought it would be interesting to play with the symbology of this particular event… / Remember the song, Age of Aquarius, the group who sang it was the 5th Dimension and was made popular by the Broadway musical “HAIR”... When the Moon is in the Seventh House(Libra/Venus – according to current calendar ended 9/23), however, also note that we humans have been altering time with such things as Daylight Savings, etc…Four days (?) And Jupiter aligns with Mars – the aspect of sextile, links planets in compatible elements, encouraging an active exchange, eager to work together – an exciting conversation…Jupiter is representative of the Producing/Expansion department, that is positive, optimistic and generous – usually associated astrologically by imposing god-like bearded men like Zues or Marduk, with the seat of anger and primitive emotion driving the forces. Also associated with Jupiter are the Eagle, sceptre, thunderbolts, power, equilibrium, justice, optimism, organizing, ability, the color Blue, the East direction, Thursday and the metal, Tin. While Mars, on the other hand, is the security department head, responding with action and self-defense, making one brave, courageous, daring and even fearless. Astrologically, it’s the symbol of the aggressive man, like the Roman God Mars, the Greek Ares, or Mesopotamian Nergal, helmeted with a shield and sword or spear, perhaps mounted, sometimes with a wolf. Also associated with Mars are energy, violence, courage, ardour, tension, fire, iron, the color red, South direction and Tuesday. Then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars… / This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius… / Harmony and Understanding / Sympathy and trust abounding / No more falsehoods or derisions / Golden living dreams of visions / Mystic crystal revelation and the mind’s true liberation – Aquarius… OK, so I’m a hopeful romantic…I can DREAM!!! The possibilities are endless…

Paddy’s Pub © Vicki Ferrari This was taken at Inverell Pioneer Village in New South Wales, Australia. I would have to have been there when it was a real pub and to have met all the characters that would have been there and to hear all their stories! It reminds me of time gone. When I was there, I could almost hear the horses hooves and hear people talking! It has a peaceful feel to it. The International Peace Garden is a 3.65 sq. mi. (9.46 km²) park located on the border between Canada and the United States, in the state of North Dakota and the province of Manitoba. Established on July 14, 1932, the park plants over 150,000 flowers each year. Main features of the garden include an 18 foot (5.5 m) floral clock display, fountains, a chime, and twin 120 foot (37 m) concrete towers straddling the border with a peace chapel at their base. The chapel walls are inscribed with notable quotes about peace. / The Arma Sifton bells is a chime of 14 bells cast by Gillett & Johnston bellfounders. The bells were a gift from Central United Church of Brandon, Manitoba, in 1972. The tower was supplied by North Dakota Veterans and dedicated in 1976. / Carrillon TowerSome building remains of the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001 have been placed in part of the garden. I had decided to give this some extra ummph taking out the sky and adding a night time one. I used the 2 photos I took and put them toghether and used brushed for the cosmic effect. It was a lot of work in CS3, but also fun to see the outcome. /
