A street photo taken at Changi Airport, Singapore. Using the natural light as backlighting, these people were quickly snapped in silhouetted as they were walking away. I’m surprised how similar these people are. They echoed each other in terms of being in a pair. Also, the pairs in the foreground are single dad with their only child. All this captured at the time 16:57.
This intimate, bright yet dark, static yet flowing, autumn themed image was made in Baxter State Park, Maine, USA in October 2006. I like the contrast of the flowing water beneath the still branches, the pop of color from the remaining birch leaves, and the juxtaposition of the branch atop the stream in tone and color! /

A Teardrop in Time I dedicate this to all Native Americans. / This image is so much more than a photograph of a beautiful sunrise…...to me it symbolizes power and strength, and overwhelming evidence of a power so much greater than we could ever imagine…...the teardrop is in memory of all the vast numbers of Native Americans whom were abused and destroyed by others’ ignorance….... Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 / For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: / a time to be born, and a time to die; / a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; / a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; / a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; / a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; / a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; / a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; / a time for war, and a time for peace.

As I finished this work this morning, I was soon reminded that my path must be sacred and true, as I witnessed 4 Bald Eagles and 2 Golden Eagles sitting along the river treeline, never since we’ve been here have I seen a grouping like this together. My body was tingling from head to toe and I got so caught up in the beauty, I could only take a few photographs (which I’ll share soon). / In Northern America, the Eagle was considered great medicine power. To the Native Americans there were different kinds and divisions of Eagles. The Golden Eagle had a very high rank. The most potent and magical was the Sky Eagle which the Iroquois called Shadahgeyah. Among the Hopi, the Eagle god was called Kwahu and according to their legends, this great bird seldom came below the clouds; only the holiest of Shamans ever saw it. Even the Aztecs said this bird represented celestial power and the rising Sun. / As a Solar Eclipse approaches with the Chinese New Year on 1/26/09, the thought behind this Mandala becomes more clear…”We Are ALL One Tribe” Rainbow Hoop Created with Wacom Graphic pad/pen and enhanced with Redfield plug-in fractilius filter and photoshop7

A homage to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On April 4, 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered the speech, Beyond Vietnam—A Time to Break Silence, at Riverside Church in New York City. I believe that his speech, although delivered more than 30 years ago, is nonetheless quite timely given man of our Middle East and economic policies today. In this extraordinary speech, Dr. King says, “A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. On the one hand, we are called to play the Good Samaritan on life’s roadside, but that will be only an initial act. One day we must come to see that the whole Jericho Road must be transformed so that men and women will not be constantly beaten and robbed as they make their journey on life’s highway. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.” In this new series (Peace Series), I highlight those among us who have broken the silence like Dr. King did, shining light on the urgent need in 1967 and I would urge today to restructure the “ediface which produces beggars.” Reforming the Jericho Road is the critical work we must get right this time. I have included a link to the speech below. Follow that link to hear Dr. King deliver the speech.
