The mystical slopes of Forbidden Plateau on Vancouver Island BC, Canada, harbour a secret. Anciently it is said that an entire tribe of people who were pursued by their enemies, disappeared forever into the sacred mists high up on the plateau. A powerful legend that still thrives today. Part proceeds from this photograph help benefit the Prince Rupert Wildlife Rescue Shelter. Thank you for helping the animals.

Lake Martin is one of my favorite places; every sunset is unique and different but always tranquil and peaceful. On this particular evening, the sky was aflame with light and the dark cypress trees stood in stark contrast to the brilliant colors of the sunset.

Another of the beautiful Majestic animals on the Critically Endangered list, with about 100,000 of these Western Lowland Gorillas left. I love the dreamy pose of this shot, maybe dreaming of a peaceful world where his relatives are not getting slaughtered in the wild by poachers. Canon 50D, 800mm (400mm + 2x Tamron). Mallard duck The mallard is a large and heavy looking duck. It has a long body and a long and broad bill. The male has a dark green head, a yellow bill, is mainly purple-brown on the breast and grey on the body. The female is mainly brown with an orange bill. It breeds in all parts of the UK in summer and winter, wherever there are suitable wetland habitats, although it is scarcer in upland areas. Mallards in the UK may be resident breeders or migrants – many of the birds that breed in Iceland and northern Europe spend the winter here. / Where to see them It is the commonest duck and most widespread so you have a chance of seeing it just about anywhere where there is suitable wetland habitat, even in urban areas. / When to see them All year round. / What they eat Seeds, acorns and berries, plants, insects and shellfish.

This Bull Elk calmly strolled through the water at the shoreline of Lake Estes early this morning. Even though a man got ‘in his face’, moving toward him within 10 feet, he continued to walk without any signs of agitation…a wonderful reminder for me to take every step of my day in peace….
