Sitting atop Banks Peninsula, South Island, mid-summer
A lovely bright October afternoon, blue skies all the way but the air is a bit nippy and the leaves are just starting to turn…Autumn’s on it’s way.
I came upon this peaceful scene when exploring north Yorkshire last year. A beautiful, calm prayerful place.

Taken in the Taylor Canyon region of Canyonlands National Park, this image shows an impressive mesa system that spans for miles in all directions. I followed an arroyo for several hours on this late afternoon, weaving in and out of the landscape and into new scenes of beauty, one after the other – it’s easy to see why people get lost. Growing up in a rural area gave me a strong sense of preparedness when venturing into the wilds, but the danger it presents is tempered by the exquisite forms that occur there, timeless and undaunted. This was my third trip to Canyonlands in two years and it’s more amazing each time I go…
Eype Down, near Bridport, Dorset, England
Taken in the French countryside, in a lovely small town called St Gilles.
I love those cloudy and sunny sky. I love making photo of it with lonely tress on the foreground. If you have an advice to avoid this lens flare (polariser ?), please let me know.
I thought about John Denver’s song when I saw this scene. “Country road, take me home, to the place I belong . . .” wherever that is. When I see moss-draped live oaks, I always think of Louisiana and the Deep South, my home. I added the pastel oil treatment to make the image have a more nostalgic look.
This is a view of the moors on the road towards Grosmont from near Goathland in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors in England. I live so near this place but I always find myself heading towards the coast so for once I went inland instead. It may not be ‘exciting’ but it is peaceful and is just a small part of God’s own country!
I photographed this stream, one of many thousands that lace their way through the fells and dales of Cumbria near Ullswater at a place called Boredale Head. It was at the end of a road near a remote farmhouse and very little else besides sheep, stone walls and isolated barns. Pure heaven! Canon 10D / 1/45th sec at f 16 / 15-30mm lens at 15mm (24mm equivalent) / ISO 100
I took my grandson and niece to a peaceful pond yesterday to just enjoy the great outdoors. It was also an opportunity to try out my new Nikon 14-24mm wide angle lens. Kimberly Palmer had encouraged me earlier to invest in this kind of lens, and I’m grateful to her for the tip. I got this shot of the pond at Magnolia Ridge in Washington, Louisiana, and decided to apply the Orton treatment for greater effect. Hope you like it and thanks for taking a look! I appreciate everyone’s support and ask your patience as I don’t have time to comment on your images; my time’s all taken up with taking care of Sebastian.
A scenic and quiet walk in Malmesbury, England. I’m trying to recall if this is the Avon River. Picture was taken in 2005 while vacationing there. © 2009 Anne Hale. /

Hill Top Scenic View from the Fishguard Headland Looking at the headland in Newport in S.W Wales ( UK ). Heather & Gorse in the foreground. Miles of nothing…Yet everything ! photo was taken on a Nikon D200 with 18/70 zoom set at f4 / tripod mounted Very Low to the ground. / I positioned the Rock & Gorse to break up the Foreground a little to avoid the Vast area of vegetation. / the Rock is within 2 ft of the lens. i did this to give a little more interest / contrast to the scene. / photoshop was minimal, using , levels & sharpening. / i did however add the Vignetting to darken the edges & draw the attention to the Central area of the image. / the Light Green of the distant Headland is untouched from the original exposure.

“Joy in the Morning” was inspired by the bibical quote that says following a dark night of sadness we will awaken to joy in the morning. This tree- framed image captures the sun peaking over the Appalachian mountains in western NC.
