Bang Sare, in Thailand, is one of my favourite sunset locations and also I have a favourite eating place there. This was taken whilst sitting on the deck of a small eatery enjoying an evening meal. One of my own favourites, I love the subtle colours of the sunset after glow.

I have always loved this quote, especially in light of something I learned after I read Viktor E. Frankl’s classic, “Man’s Search for Meaning.” In that book, Frankl, a psychiatrist who was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II, found that those who were able to survive mentally were the ones who saw a meaning and a purpose in the experience. Though they did not embrace the evil into which they’d fallen, they believed that good could come from it and accepted it. Those who could not come to acceptance languished and died from despair and bitterness. I believe this is the essence of meaning in De Caussade’s quote, to accept each of life’s experiences, good or bad, as part of the shaping and molding process we go through to become better human beings.

I love Irises: purple Irises. I know you can’t see or hear it, but when I say the word, or think it, or type it, then the wind sweeps through and clears the head, and off on the Flats the irises dance merrily in the breeze, the mingled scents of swamp and pine, burgeonin birch, melting ice, and cottonwood contemplating mischief waft along for the ride, and .. everything is not right with the world, no; but, it is a little better.
