Spiral staircase in the Vatican Museum. / I love spiral staircases and this is an amazing example. Definately inspired by nature, when you looked at it you coudn’t help but see the shell like forms appearing. I would love to photograph this with nobody else around, but I actually feel the people add some scale to this piece and I dont mind them being there at all. If I didnt have the Vatican Guards looking over my shoulder I would have been there all day!

Winner of the Surreal Phare Design Competition ~ Sadly now forgotten.. Yes its French, it ended up on a French beach in the Languedoc-Roussillon area, / the Government lost its nerve at the last moment and tried to hide it in the most remote part of France.. These days its quite a headache for the local council, they are sick of cleaning the linen covering and washing off the graffiti..

HDR of the millennium bridge in London with st Paul’s cathedral in the background It had been very stormy, a hail storm had just passed as the sun broke through, illuminating the cathedral, this is a composite of about 10 shots, to get rid off some of the tourists. HDR processed in photomatix from a single composite image, then processed using CS3 with lots of layers and tweaks. Canon 400D, Canon 10-22mm @13mm, f14, 0.5, iso100

This watercolor by artist Paul Jackson captures 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan on a rainy day. The pelican stopped for a quick “Detour” on it’s way to the Fulton Fish Market. Completed in 2008, this 22” X 36” painting is part of the Paul Jackson New York watercolor series. Detour won The Margery Soroka Memorial Award from the American Watercolor Society.
Surely one of the most treasured spots to sit and watch as a new day breaks. Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada / July, 2009 Lake Louise, set in the Banff National Park in Canada is perhaps known as the Diamond of the Rockies for no other reason than its sheer beauty alone. Having arrived in Canada on the previous afternoon after a long trans-Atlantic flight, the idea to beat the effects of jet lag were adopted with a 3am alarm call and the chance to shoot Lake Louise in all its splendour at dawn. Following a 45 mins drive from Banff accompanied along the way with storms over the mountains lighting the otherwise black night sky, we arrived at Lake Louise in good time for sunrise. Some may know the lake as a bustling tourist spot with coaches coming and going throughout the day. Dropping off their cargo at the water’s edge to take in the majesty of Louise before whisking them off to a further destination all to the sound of clicking shutters and the gentle whir of digital handy-cams. For Claire and I the experience was to sit alone in silence; the only guests at Natures matinee performance… The dedication to early starts could not be better rewarded.
