The peristyle around Palazzo Ducale in Venice, Italy, where one finds tourists and locals alike – idling time, strolling, reading a book, or just resting. The colonnade, complete with rows of gothic columns and arches, the marble patterned floor, and the grilled arch windows render an unusual depth to the scene. I found this leaf totally stripped of its green (or red or???) covering and just perfect in its skeletal form, lying on the ground as I walked in the local woods. The actual size is 4” in length. BEST VIEWED IN LARGER MODE! / Taken with Nikon D80 1/60s f/13 ISO 250 105mm macro lens on tripod /
Everything seems to have a place. / It all fits together perfectly. / It has pattern and order and purpose. / / But sometimes, despite your best efforts, things unravel. / The ends fray. / Stuff becomes unstuck. / You lose track of the delicate interplay of all those nameless ‘bits’. The next thing you know, it’s falling apart. / Flying in in the breeze. / And it will never be the same again. But it feels… free. _ / The acrylic on canvas version (small child not included) /

White Sands National Memorial in New Mexico is one of our nation’s treasures. The sand is truly white and stretches for miles. The winds which blow over it sculpt and move the layers of sand into wonderful abstract designs. When the early morning light or the waning light of the evening shine at a low slant across the dunes, the shadows form beautiful designs. This image was taken at sunset with a soapstone yucca growing valiantly in the sand.
Inspired by 1960s opart. The “daisy” was a fractal generated in Tierazon, and manipulated in PhotoImpact.
Detail from my abstract painting in my gemstones series. Mixed aquamedia on Arches 140 lb cold press paper – aquamedia includes Winsor and Newton transparent watercolor, Pelikan ink, Liquitex acrylic.
Extreme closeup with 60mm macro of burnout car. Tiny rust spots showing through. This reminded me as soon as I saw it of pack ice in the Antarctic ….. the deep cold blue of the southern ocean with the ice floating on it. Nikon D90 1/250s f/16 ISO 800 Handheld. Best viewed large /

We were in the Bahamas, visiting the luxurious Atlantis, the walkway to the enterance, water flowing underneath was lined with balusters, the sun streaming in. The black and white image better highlighting the darks and lights of the image.
Made with Ultra Fractal, using several layers and masks. Thank you for the support and faves. :)
The islands of sand left by the retreating tide, creating some half forgotten land when the sea was king of the world. The afternoon sun and clouds created this almost abstract painting of light, shadow and texture. Shot at Sandhaven Beach near the Lees in South Shields. Converted into black and white with film details

Pyrgi is a historic town on the Greek island of Chios. Almost all of the buildings are decorated with black and white geometric patterns done by carving through a white top layer of plaster to reveal a black layer underneath.
