  • A Fish Out of Water
    by Carrie Glenn

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Airbrush and mixed media on canvas Featured on the Home Page / (Thanks Everyone!) My Work Is Featured in Pop Art / (Thanks Kitsmumma) My Work Is Featured in I ♥ Patterns / (Thanks Jemimalovesbigted & Natalie) There’s more ocean in fish than fish in the ocean… Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / / Poem by Peter. • School's Out
    by Joanne A. Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Taken at Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario Canada on Monday June 2nd/08. Leaning over the docks I noticed this school of minnows that kept dispersing and rejoining in intricate patterns in the water. My husband did not think I should upload this to RB but I find it an interesting abstract of the underwater world. Looking forward to your comments or lack of them! :-)

  • 'Iliki' Spirit of Aloha
    by Karin Taylor

    US$4.70–US$125.40

‘Iliki’ Spirit of Aloha is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. My darling ‘Illiki’ was inspired by James Michener’s novel ‘Hawaii’ and the beautiful young hawaiian girl who is one of the charming characters early on in the story. I was completely swept away during the reading of this incredible novel, highly recommended reading :D I think that the song Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole really relates to the story …. as his melancholy voice is so melodically accompanied by the ukelele….. it reminds me of the story of Iliki the young hawaiian girl, who leaves her island when still very young…. forever she haunted the mind of the young minister missionary who tended her and taught her in his first days on the island, he forever wondered how she was faring in the civilised world, having been taken away on a ship by the white men. He felt a certain special kind of fatherly love for this girl, and it tore his heart that she was so clever and cottoned on so well to the new english language, and customs he would teach her, as well as the scriptures…but she was a wild thing, and never one to be ‘pigeon-holed’ or contained… he set her free and never saw her again. Here are the lyrics to Israel’s version of the song, i feel that is how the young missionary felt, even as he grew old on the island of Hawaiia, waiting hoping wondering with every ship that pulled in, whether the young girl Iliki would be aboard and he would welcome her return, sadly that day never came tho: SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW Ooooo oooooo ohoohohoo / Ooooo ohooohoo oooohoo / Ooooo ohoohooo oohoooo / Oohooo oohoooho ooooho / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo Somewhere over the rainbow / Way up high / And the dreams that you dreamed of / Once in a lullaby ii ii iii / Somewhere over the rainbow / Blue birds fly / And the dreams that you dreamed of / Dreams really do come true ooh ooooh / Someday I’ll wish upon a star / Wake up where the clouds are far behind me ee ee eeh / Where trouble melts like lemon drops / High above the chimney tops thats where you’ll find me oh / Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly / And the dream that you dare to,why, oh why can’t I? i iiii Well I see trees of green and / Red roses too, / I’ll watch them bloom for me and you / And I think to myself / What a wonderful world Well I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white / And the brightness of day / I like the dark and I think to myself / What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky / Are also on the faces of people passing by / I see friends shaking hands / Saying, “How do you do?” / They’re really saying, I…I love you / I hear babies cry and I watch them grow, / They’ll learn much more / Than we’ll know / And I think to myself / What a wonderful world (w)oohoorld Someday I’ll wish upon a star, / Wake up where the clouds are far behind me / Where trouble melts like lemon drops / High above the chimney top that’s where you’ll find me / Oh, Somewhere over the rainbow way up high / And the dream that you dare to, why, oh why can’t I? I hiii ? Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo / Ooooo oooooo oooooo

A salute to my favourite INXS song “Johnson’s Aeroplane”. “From a small aeroplane, you can see the sea. Lots of blue, very deep blue”. This week I had the incredible luck of flying in a 4 seater plane and having my first try at aerial photography – great fun!! It was such a fantastic day and Perth was looking its best on a 27 degree spring day. Thanks heaps to Malcolm the pilot, Mum and Dad!! :)))

  • The first Crocus
    by Anthony Hedger

    US$4.84–US$129.20

Yep, this dear little flower is the first to arrive in our garden this year so spring has started her rebirth and re-growth. It could also be said this is symbolic of our own growth and rebirth, changes being made within our own being. We just need to sit quiet to seek the answers.
