  • This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. A 10 shot stitched panorama! Taken with my 20D And 17-40 f/4 L. Featured In: Australia! • Someone told me there is this great little place called Red Rock just north of Coffs Harbour. I was determined to visit while on holidays there. I think I got there just a little late. Managed to get this before the sun disappeared all too quickly…. • In a reflective mood….....

  • The day summer arrived and it got stinking hot. This shot was taken at 5am and not a cloud in sight. The days temperature climbed up to 40.2°C in Brisbane. Summer is over is just over a week. This morning was certainly what I would expect in winter, crisp, vibrant and cloudless. Keep it coming…love it

  • Found this lurking in a hard drive. Taken from the Eureka tower last year just before they banned cameras in ‘The Edge’ – a glass ‘box’ that extends out from the top floor and hangs over the city 92 floors below. This image was taken through the floor of ‘The Edge’. I adjusted the levels aggressively and burned the reflections of the people to make them stand out more. /

  • It might look like a really complex image, but it is the simplest of all concepts. It’s not a giant tunnel in a museum – it’s just a little toy Slinky – but it’s heart-shaped instead of the common round ones. I held it in my left hand, chose a focal length and let the Slinky drop out to its full length, shooting it simultaneously with my right hand while it sprang back and forth. The Slinky was bi-coloured. It started out dark orange and gradually changed to a light green down the bottom. To create the impression of a perspective that was vanishing into the distance, I shot this in a room at home, in low light. But I shot it directly under a recessed light fitted to the ceiling, knowing that the glow at the bottom of the image, on the light-green plastic surface, would be interesting. I shot five images, each from slightly different angles, but this is my favourite because it creates the impression of a never-ending pattern that starts and ends with a clear heart. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K10D in June 2007. F3.5, 1/25sec, ISO 400, focal length 25mm. Featured in IMAGE WRITING, June 2009.
