Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 15×20 / 2009 Related work: / The Waterman: Unio Mystica This is the second panel of The Waterman triptych. While the central panel represents the Christ as the macrocosm, the side panels are the microcosm, represented by the Four Elements and their manifestation in the physical world. Ignis Aeris is the yang pillar, the elements Fire and Air. Volatile and oriented upward, these elements are connected to the realms of the abstract thinking and intuition. Fire is the energy, passion and primeval instincts, that need to be balanced by the intellect (Air) in order to manifest in a most constructive way. The certainty of the Divine, that comes from the heart and from a primal knowledge, needs to be shaped by the intellect in order to become less aggressive and to expand (the butterflies rising from the fire and flying upward). Only through a perfect combination of faith and reason we can access the Divine and understand Its Laws. At the basis of the picture, handling the creative power of Fire, we see the Magician of the Tarot, which I represented wearing the skin of Nemean Lion, just like Greek hero Herakles. He represents the first step in the Hero’s Journey, or that path that each one of us need to find out and go through in order to become Whole with the Universe. The Magician is the one who uses his power of will (Fire) and mental skills (Air) in order to find his own path.

I recently had several requests for instructions on how to add buttons like the ones in my profile. Rather than send individual bubblemail messages, I’m posting it in my journal in case someone else would like to add buttons to their RB profile. BUTTON INSTRUCTIONS Tip: print out this page and put it beside the computer before you start. You can make your own buttons or you can use a site called ButtonGenerator. If you decide to use this site and not to pay for a membership, you will need to add a link back to the site. I made all of mine 125X26 to give you some idea of the size of the ones on my page. This size allowed 3 buttons side-by-side. Make all your buttons and then save them in a folder on your computer. Then you will need to upload each button to your RB image gallery and use the “Hide” feature so that no one sees them but you. Once you have them uploaded you will need to right-click on each one to get the url address html code in the properties box. Example: http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg Then go to “Edit Your Profile” to copy the image html code AND the tag html code – it will look like this (without the spaces): ! http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg ! : http://www.redbubble.com/people/patmonty/art/everything/tags/autumn [REMEMBER NO SPACES. I had to add spaces so you could see the html code. If I had not added spaces, the button would have appeared in the journal instead of the code.] The last word in the html code is the “tag” word. In the example above it is autumn. You will need to put one space between each set of button html code. If you have a lot of buttons the language is long and wraps around forever. But with one space between each button html code, the buttons will sit next to other and then wrap to the next line. Now you will need to add the tag word to each of your images that will correspond to the buttons. Happy Button Making! UPDATE: Cool Text Graphics Generator is another good site for buttons. I have written this tutorial more for the new bubblers that have recently joined. But if you have been around the site for awhile and still haven’t yet attempted to put a link in your profile, image description, or bubblemail, this should help. FOR THE COMPUTER SAAVY: Put quotation marks around the words you want to be the link. Then type a colon. Copy and paste the url address for the page, image, etc. that you want to link to. No spaces anywhere in the code. BEGINNER STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS: I would suggest printing these out to have next to the keyboard. It will be easier than switching back and forth to this screen. -Type the words you want to be the link: Bubblesite for Patricia -Put quotation marks around the words: “Bubblesite for Patricia” -Add a colon at the end: “Bubblesite for Patricia” : -Then add the url address for the page/photo you want to link to: http://patmonty.redbubble.com/ -It should look like this (without the space): “Bubblesite for Patricia”: http://patmonty.redbubble.com/ -I put a space after the colon so the html code would be visible in this journal. The symbolism of this piece is quite rich, and in further researches I found out that I ended up making relations between all the representations without consciously being aware of it. The Chemistry is about inner alchemy and how the power of transformation manifests itself through Will. That’s basically my version of the ancient illustrations on alchemy in which we see a dragon-serpent “wrapping” a maiden. In my version, for artistical reasons, I decided not to draw the serpent involving the maiden’s body, but putting her closer to the background, and showing her body changing according to the colors of the environment – which are the colors of the four elements. The serpent is a representation of the unconscious forces of Will. The maiden raises from a pond (the beginning of all things, regeneration, new birth) that has been formerly muddy and still (the dark green color at the edges), and now is made clear by the power of fire (strength, courage, will, passion), or the dragon. A bunch of monarch butterflies come out the pond. The butterfly is one of the symbols of the Gemini sign (Mercury) and the classical representation of regeneration and rebirth. The maiden’s hair turns first into green grass from which 3 lotus flowers (another symbol of rebirth) arise, and then into fire. The dragon’s head show itself among the profusion of hair. The four elements are clearly present, in images and colors: Fire (dragon’s head, the top of the picture, the color red), Earth (grass and leaves, the color green), Air (butterflies, the color yellow) and Water (the pond, the color blue). It’s part of our journey as human beings to face muddy waters throughout our life. But to remain stagnant in them is our choice. We all have the inner strength to being born again, to rebuild ourselves – we just need to accept the changes and look toward the future. This is a painting done in air brush from a pose. A body was used as ref, the look, hair, clothing, background, words, cans and other props ( looked a t live guitar for the ref) are all made up out of my head. This painting took forever! It’s Mitch in his stage clothing at the Dive “Smokey’s” before he blew it up along with Smokey. He get’s with this small timer, dealin’ drugs, tells me I’m the new “dirty boy” that’s the guy who delivers but don’t piss ‘em off cause I’m one of them. I do the job. Smokey says “don’t you be late..bla bla” Yo, I tried! I did, but you know the streets, I get jumped right, so I have to kick they ass first, then I get the goods to where they need to be and BOOM I’m late over here, Smokey, he sees me next. start running his fat mouth. He change the locks on my appartment he rents me upstairs, BUST UP My guitar! MY bread and butter over here! See now that’s when he pissed me off! Talkin’ mess about how I messed up his connections. I messed up all right. I messed up his fat FACE!

This tutorial will help you set up your own personal gallery, also known in RB-land as a bubblesite. If you are not sure what a bubblesite is, then use the link to take a look at my personal gallery of images known as Bucks Mountain Galleries. HINT: I always recommend that you print out tutorial instructions so that you don’t have to flip back and forth between screens. Now, let’s get started! SET UP YOUR SITE: “Click on “My Bubble” On the 2nd menu row, look to the far right and click on “Bubblesite” (2nd button from the right). The “Bubblesite Setup” page will appear. BUBBLESITE SETUP Site title: Type the name of your gallery Home Page Image: Click on the down arrow on the right side of the box and choose an image from the group of images you have uploaded to Redbubble. This will be a large image that will appear on your gallery home page. Choose one of your best images, one that will leave visitors wanting to see more. Home Page Content: This is the first page visitors will see. Type something that will catch their attention. Add a quote or write something about your photography business. You can also add links or an additional image. These are only suggestions, be creative and write what you think will be best as the first impression. About Page Content: A place to type something about yourself and add contact information such as an additional email address or web address. These are only suggestions, so be creative and write what you think will be best. Choose a site theme: You have three color choices for your gallery pages. Choose the one that best suits you. Black on White / White on Black / Grey on Biege IMPORTANT: At the bottom right side of the page, click “Save Changes”. MANAGE YOUR IMAGE GALLERY Make sure you saved the information in Step 1, Bubblesite setup. Now it is time to manage your image gallery. Go back to the top of the page and click on the blue underlined link “Manage the Gallery”. Your Library – Your published images are listed here. If you have images on Redbubble that are not for sale, then you will not be able to put them in the gallery. Only images for sale can be added to the gallery. NOTE: Right now only tee designs and images can be added to your gallery. Calendars cannot be added at this time. In the left hand column under Your Library, you can name your first gallery set. HINT: Give some thought to how you want your gallery to be arranged. At this time, RB does not give you the capability to re-arrange your gallery titles/folders after you are done. So you might want to write down your categories and decide the order you want them to appear before getting started. Click on the words, new set, in the box. We’ll use Landscapes as an example for the first gallery set/folder. Type the word, Landscapes (or whatever title you prefer). Click the button, “Create” ADD IMAGES TO YOUR FIRST GALLERY SET/FOLDER If you used landscapes, then go to “Your Library”, use the down arrow at the bottom right-hand side, and drag down until you see your first landscape image. Move your cursor over that image thumbnail. You should see a 4-arrow cross. Click and drag your image over the folder named “Lanscapes”. Release the mouse button and the image will be moved to the folder. When done, open the folder to check and see if the image is there. Repeat these steps for this folder and all the new folders that yourcreate. NOTE: There is a link just above the library images that will visually assist with the steps outlined above. Click on “Show Help”. When you are done, it’s time to see your gallery! Go back to the top of the page and click on the blue underlined link, “View Your Site”. I am certainly no expert at making tee shirts. I know there are others out there who are the real experts. So I’m just going to share a few helpful hints that came out of my struggles to get two tee designs uploaded on RB. Here’s what I did: Opened Photoshop Elements (or any other image editing program) and set up a new empty page. Set the dimensions to 2400 width x 3200 height with a transparent background. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the background is not transparent, it will not work! If you are one pixel off on the dimensions, it will not work! You cannot transpose the pixels either (NOT 3200 width x 2400 height) as it will not work! Transferred (copied) an image to the blank/transparent background. Added text to complete my design. Saved image as a .png file. NOTE: Other file extensions (such as .jpg) will not work! It must be a .png file! Uploaded to Redbubble with a default color and a default style. This will be the color and style (short-sleeve, long sleeve, etc.) you want to display on the page to showcase your design. NOTE: If you forget to choose the defaults, it will not work! Should I have a contest to see who can guess all the things I did wrong when I first tried to upload a tee shirt design? LOL! Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have problems or further questions. I recommend printing these instructions so that you have them handy for reference. It is easier than switching back and forth to this screen. Click on “my bubble”. Click on “art” (on the 2nd row of links – not the top one). You should see “My Art” page – this is the page where you can edit your pics. Choose your photo and click on “Show Public View”. Click “Buy/Preview”. (Note: You won’t actually be buying, only previewing) Choose the card or frame of your choice. Make your mat or color selections, etc. When the image of your framed photo appears on the screen, right click on the photo. A pop-up box will appear. Right click on the photo. In the pop-up box, click on “properties” (at the bottom). The “Properties” box will pop up – highlight the address (URL) . {Click & drag will highlight the entire address} IMPORTANT: Be sure to highlight the entire address – only two lines will be visible, but if a third line of the address hidden, be sure you drag down to highlight all lines of the address. Next copy the URL address. Press Ctrl-C (press the control key and the “C” key at the same time). You won’t see anything happen on the screen, but that is fine. Click OK to close the “Properties” box. Go to “Edit Your Profile” and scroll down to the “About You” box. Click in the box where you want this example to be shown. Now press Ctrl-V (press control key and the “V” key at the same time). You should see the URL address. Put an exclamation point ( ! ) in front of the URL address and another one at the end of the URL address. It should be similar to this example, but without the spaces: ! http://images-0.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/size:xsmall/view:main/993259-1-yellowstone-in-winter.jpg ! Remember, NO SPACES before or after the exclamation point (!) – the beginning of the URL should look like this: !http:// The end of the URL address should look like this: winter.jpg! NOTE: These will be full-size copies of the images. If you would like to have smaller images (see my profile for examples) that don’t take up so much room, see my other tutorial on how to resize the images. There has been one sale of this image. In November 2008 this image was featured in the group, Buyers R Us. In February 2009, this image placed third in the U.S. Parks Wildlife Shots challenge hosted by the AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat group. A thousand Yellowstone wonders are calling, ‘Look up and down and round about you! John Muir – 1898 The temperatures were in the single digits on this cold, snowy January morning at West Thumb Geyser Basin, which is one of the smallest geyser basins in Yellowstone. A incredibly scenic area along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb only has a small amount of geyser activity. However, the basin more than makes up for it with its diversity. Despite its small size, it has paint/mud pots, hot springs, pools, lake shore geysers, and fumaroles. Fumaroles are small openings that release steam and other gasses. You can see in the foreground the muddy, soupy waters inundating the paint pots. The white area beyond the tree line in the right hand side of the photograph is Yellowstone Lake. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image. This was painted in Photo Shop on a blank file set at 300 dpi. This painting is NOT photo generated or photo manipulation. This Is Mitch. He is my creation. He is was born in Venice Italy. His mother is Italian his father… well your just going to have to wait till I get his first chapter written. His family moved to the states , NYC, when he was 6. / After his father died his mother (never very caring in the first place) took off and he was left alone to bury his father at the age of 9. The only thing of value he had was a black Journal. After reading it Mitch finds out he is much more than just human. The continence of the journal was the history of his grandfather. Not wanting what happened to his grandfather to happen to him, Mitch takes to the streets. He spent his time growing up on the streets where he met an old blues player who taught him to play a guitar and sing the blues. That’s how he got money, singing on the streets and in joints. With his deep soulful voice and good looks getting a gig was easy. But it wasn’t enough, not for the life he wanted. / So being Italian… It was easy for him to find “other” work. He had learned to knife fight on the streets and became quite good. Then he hooks up with a small time drug lord and so it begins his true life of crime, soon Mitch becomes the right arm man for one of the biggest Mobsters in NYC…… Later , at the height of his success, just 18 Mitch unknowingly kills the Godfather’s nephew in a jealous rage, now he’s their target. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. Mitchelin Valentino has a history of being a BAD boy. These are his tattoos. The Large bird is from a gang he was once in called The Ravens. The two tattoos on his upper arms and on is back under the raven is the sun rising over water. He got those latter in life after a near- death experience with the mob. A native American boy about his age named David Red-Feather and his grandfather, White Hawk, pulled him out of the river. It was a typical “wack” hit, cement boots and all. While drowning in the river Mitch sees his dead father (who was a good man) and he speaks to him stating how he needs to change his ways and that there is more to life than what is on this earth. They mean, “The Son rises above”. The “water” is a series of tiger stripes. this represents his spirit animal, a side of himself he must learn to control or he will forever be in the dark world of the dead, as explained to him by White Hawk, a spirit reader. He also tell Mitch what his father thinks of his past life. As David and his grandfather nurse Mitch back from the dead he begings to take a great intrest in who they are and what they are about… but it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks, even if he thinks he wants to learn. / / Copyright / These Images and Writings Do Not Belong To ANY Public Domain. On April 22, 2009 this image won the California Challenge in the American Southwest Group. On April 1, 2009 this image won the Black & White Challenge in the Retired & Happy group. This image placed third in the Best Treatment challenge in December ‘08. The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible in this dense morning fog. From a cliff overlooking the bay, the pillar was visible as well as a misty outline of the San Francisco skyline. Built in 1933, the bridge was completed 5 years later in 1937. It is a part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1, and is the only road to exit San Francisco to the north. A bit of trivia: The suspension bridge is 8,981 feet in length and is 200+ feet above the water. It has a total of approximately 1.2 million rivets holding it together.
