the cenotaph of abraham in the cave of the patriarchs, hebron, west bank … the caves below are recognised as the burial places of adam/eve, abraham/sarah,isaac/rebekah and jacob/leah – sacred to muslims,christians and jews alike … 80% of the building is owned by a muslim wafq/trust, including the tombs of issac/rebekah which jews are given access to 10 days of the year that hold related significance … the israel defence forces surround and control access to the site … infamously, in 1994 Baruch Goldstein opened fire on the praying mosque killing 29 palestinian muslims (wounding 125) before being killed by survivors …
