  • Some churches simply have to greatest doors! I found this one with a vivid red door in Cape May, New-Jersey, USA. Simple hardware with a beautiful patina, polished with use, on a plain bright colourful door. Finished in 6th position of Top Ten in the WARM: Reds-Oranges-Yellows challenge of the Simple by Design Group on March 8, 2009 . That one was easy, as there were only 9 entries! ;-) /

  • Patina (ˈpa tə nə) is a film on the surface of bronze or similar metals (produced by oxidation over a long period); a sheen on wooden furniture produced by age, wear, and polishing; or any such acquired change of a surface through age and exposure. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides or carbonates formed on the surface during exposure to the elements (weathering). Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and colour that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time. / Patinas are restricted to exposed surfaces and are fragile (that is, they can flake off). One reason bronze is so highly valued in statuary is that its patina protects or passivates it against further corrosion. This natural patina is solid and seldom shows a tendency to flake. Brass is also resistant to corrosion, but it is, in the long run, not as attractive since local pitting shows against the shiny background. / source: Wikepedia Dictionary :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patina credits: / MJRANUM for the torso / water and textures (photographs and digital paintings) by yours truly. © 2009 jokiargu creations / All rights rederved

  • This T-shirt features the oversized eyes of my drawing “Patina” and a branch from “In the Brush” When I started drawing again after a 15 year hiatus, I liked making very exaggerated features – chiefly the eyes. You could say I went a little overboard with this one. (grin) I was listening to Anne Rice’s “Interview with a Vampire” when I drew these eyes. I can still hear the description of Claudia when I look at this face. AND, a mug with this design is available at Zazzle. / / Copy and paste this address: / http://www.zazzle.com/patina_and_the_brush_mug-16894548747378

  • pencil on paper drawing This is from a very early drawing of mine, “Patina”. I drew most of her while listening to a reading of Anne Rice’s “Interview with a Vampire”. When I look at her eyes, I can specifically ‘hear’ the description of Claudia – one of the characters. I should mention that I’m not really into vampires. I just really liked this book. . . . . . (You can see the full original behind me on the wall in my studio.) Also, in my Clothing section: /

  • paper on pencil (Stonehenge) drawing (ORIGINAL SOLD) I wanted to get up close and personal with LIFE at the time of this drawing. You can see the original up on my wall behind me in my studio: / AND, I have a T-shirt design that steals her eyes. You’ll find that in my Clothing section: /

  • (or something!) An experimental T using my pencil drawing “Patina”.

  • Taking my pencil drawing, “Patina”, (shown in original state on the wall behind me), I sliced her and added color to make this variation. / ALSO in my Clothing section: /

  • Starting with my pencil drawing Patina / comes this RedBubble exclusive variation.

  • This view from a walkway behind the Seattle Market might have seemed bland. But I knew it had potential. Cement really has a lot of blue in it…...so I brought that out and enhanced the textures just a bit. And again….to sell the abstract…..I decided to give it a turn. /

  • A series of organic, earthy, original paintings meant to be displayed together, or hung in groups of 2 or 3 or alone. These paintings were created all together and represent a feeling of earthy elements, organic compositions and natural, earthy colors. Paint layering process is used in these paintings to create many layers and depths of texture. This particular painting “Organic Elements” Series II is a subdued feeling with earthy colors of teal, patina, golds, greens and blues.
