  • Charcoal and chalk, 80×45 cms. Sold. / This piece was done when I was quite down. I think it shows in my work, It is unavoidable in art. Emotions will translate themselves into lines and shades unconsciously. Kirsty posed for me and I believe she was very down as well. Ah, well. Solace in art? Truth, maybe. Maybe not. Fortunately it does not diminish my skills, only my confidence. It is very clear to me which works have been done in times when I have been down: Small acts of Kindness, Funereal and Exit Music, etc. They all bear this soft hesitation. I wasn’t thinking of the Guns n roses song when i named it. At all.

  • Two artists sit on a rocky outcrop waiting for the world, earth, universe to do it’s thing. Magic. Bruny Island, Southern Tasmania, Australia

  • From my hike to Snow Lakes just outside of Leavenworth, WA. No, I am not afraid of spiders. /

  • Mixed Mediums on Canvas.

  • I was down at Newcastle Beach this morning because I woke up to see a big swell pumping through Merewether but it just wasn’t performing.. so I decided to explore other parts of Newcastle which I’ve never bothered to photograph before. I was set up with my 500mm lens to get some surfing photographs, but due to the salty mist (making it difficult to see and focus) and my low placement (couldnt really see the wave if a wave had just broken in front of it), it wasn’t ideal for any decent surfing photographs. There were only a few decent waves coming through anyway which were actually being ridden, some were a bit too fat or shutting down too soon. So I swivled my gigantic lens around to see these guys waiting patiently to jump off the rocks into the surf. With the low sun, it created some beautiful back lighting perfect for silhouettes.

  • ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- There are so many familiar sayings out there about ‘Time’ as we know it. Time heals all wounds. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time stands still. Time waits for no one. If I could turn back the hands of Time. Frozen in Time. Timeless…. you get the idea. Well, I wanted to create a series that perhaps captured the essence of these things, in relation to human emotion. And so my Time series was born. I know in my heart what each of them means, but I did not name them anything specific, so that the viewer could make up their own mind as to the meaning of each piece. I think that is something unique to every individual. So…my heartfelt thanks for continuing to watch and support my artistic endeavors. It feeds the fire that burns and inspires. / Aimee

  • “The LORD your God is with you, / he is mighty to save. / He will take great delight in you, / he will quiet you with his love, / he will rejoice over you with singing.” “The sorrows for the appointed feasts / I will remove from you; / they are a burden and a reproach to you. At that time I will deal / with all who oppressed you; / I will rescue the lame / and gather those who have been scattered. / I will give them praise and honor / in every land where they were put to shame. At that time I will gather you; / at that time I will bring you home. / I will give you honor and praise / among all the peoples of the earth / when I restore your fortunes / before your very eyes,” / says the LORD. / ~Zephaniah 3:17-20 Stock Credits: / Texture by http://inthename-stock.deviantart.com/ / Horse by http://absurdus.deviantart.com/ / Woman by http://mizzd-stock.deviantart.com/ / Background by http://anarasha-stock.deviantart.com/

  • When I saw this prayer, written by an unknown author, at the Carmelite monastery where I do volunteer work, I knew I had to incorporate it into an image and offer its consoling words to those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s as well as to family, friends, and medical personnel who care for those afflicted with this disease. I chose an image of a cloud-filled sky as the sun was setting because those with Alzheimer’s are largely in the sunset of their lives and have to contend with many issues that cloud their lives. Prayer for an Alzheimer’s Sufferer Please grant my visitors tolerance for my confusion, / Forgiveness for my irrationality, / and the strength to walk with me / Into the mist of memory my world has become. Please let them take my hand and stay awhile / Even though I seem unaware of their presence. / Help them to know how their strength and loving care / Will drift slowly into the days to come / Just when I need it most. Let them know when I don’t recognize them / that I will . . . I will. / Keep their hearts free from sorrow for me / For my sorrow when it comes only lasts a moment – / then it’s gone. And finally please let them know / how very much their visits mean, / How, even through this relentless mystery, / I can still feel the love. Amen

  • The Weight of Chains They don’t always clank, these chains. Not like in the ghost stories. / They don’t always warn you of the evil in the room. / Sometimes they whisper, lovers close by your ear, cupping your chin and promising fidelity. / Sometimes they chatter, chipmunks in the grass, warning of predators. / Sometimes they coax you to wear them, grifters at your feet, telling tales of riches. They weigh on you, these chains. / You think you wear none? / Do you believe? / Do you hope? / Do you love? / Do you dream? / Do you eat? / Do you sleep? / Do you hate? / Do you envy? / Are you human? / Then you are in chains. / Break free of all of them and you’re dead. / Some are better than others, though. / Chains of love can weigh light like the flutter of an eyelash. / Chains of hope can weigh so little they carry you to other worlds. But some chains will crush you before you can feel them. / Hate. / Prejudice. / Those chains have no mercy. And some weigh what you weigh. They are you, your body. You feel them only when you fight them. Weightless, then? / Only at peace. I didn’t plan to upload this today because I’m behind in visiting you guys and replying, and I don’t want anyone to think I’m being rude. But I need to get it off my computer before I panic and throw it out. It’s YELLING at me. Well, OK, not really. But it’s a visceral reaction I’m having. It’s making me want to tear apart my life and rebuild it in better ways. Wow. Anyway, it’s seven photo images and some digital painting, combined and edited in Photoshop Elements 3. /

  • I wait by the sea / we’ve never met / but our souls have been entwined / for centuries long / Your spirit spins through my heart / and through my core / like a cleansing rain / that fills the crevices left by time / Like music, you breath deep into me / sweeping away the bruises of life / with your love / I feel you when I close my eyes / and listen to the sound / that makes my heart sing yet yearn / for your presence / upon, within, around me / We may never meet / but I know you’re there / in this life / ....or another I wrote the poem first, but felt the need for an image to go with it, so here it is – this is a reworked version of Voyager Dreaming.
