  • Trail to Fisherman’s Village Every day of my vacation well…every other day, I would take a half and hour wall down the natural path and untouched part of the beach that went toward the fisherman’s village , every day in late afternoon they would come in with small bark and pull out nets and I would sneak and take a peek at what was the catch of the day, some fishermen where also fishing on the banks with very peculiar funny fishing lines, I had never seen nothing like it , never seen before…but that story is for a other photo…:)) / Photo as is directly out of the compact camera Photosmart HP R927 / Captured in Las Galeras Beach, Samana Peninsula, Dominican Republic, a Island of the Caribbeans. • What can I say? ...This is a wonderful place to be! Ricketts Glen State Park in north east Pennsylvania. This photo was just taken on August 15th, 2009. It was shot with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 35mm. The shutter speed was 1/250th sec. at f/4. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. • Kitchen Creek is responsible for creating the amazing natural gorge that is presently known as Ricketts Glen. This is the main stream, as seen from the Falls Trail, winding its way northward toward Lake Jean at the top of the gorge. The natural light that was available here just before noon, with the sun nearly at its peak, was muted by the dense stand of leaf-covered trees. The wonderful daylight gave this gorgeous scene a lush green cast. The heavy growth of moss on all of the rocks completed the rich green-on-green palette. I wish I could let you smell the sweet vegetation in the air and hear the “music” of the rushing whitewater… but I can’t. You will just have to visit this incredible place yourself to fully experience the awesome beauty that I found in Ricketts Glen! Ricketts Glen is a large State Park, located in the north eastern region of Pennsylvania. The nearest community to the park is Red Rock, situated at the junction state routes RT-118 and RT-487. Please use “View Larger” on this one… A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was zoomed to the 20mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was 0.3 sec at f/22 for maximum depth-of-field. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. • I saw this scene on my hike on Saturday, and I had to get the photograph, even though I was quite late getting out of the woods. (Hikers within the park are required to be out of the forest before sunset, which was approaching very quickly.) The first thing that struck me here was what every nature loving person would see, the shear beauty of this small clearing. Then I noticed something very interesting; the broken branches on the otherwise healthy tree near the middle of the image. This is likely a sign of a big buck deer entering “rut” season. At this time of the year (mid September), the buck will mark his territory by rubbing his antlers on tree branches. They are also removing the seasonal “velvet” from their racks. It is very common for them to get rambunctious and start breaking off branches in preparation for defending their doe and territory against other bucks. When I see a sight like this, I see the same gorgeous view that most people usually see. I also see the less obvious signs of the activity of nature’s wild creatures. Ricketts Glen is a fantastic State Park, located in the north eastern region of Pennsylvania. The nearest community to the park is Red Rock, situated at the junction state routes RT-118 and RT-487. This image is untouched, no processing or cropping was applied. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to its widest focal length of 17mm. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/3rd sec at f/11. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome!
