Shade and honey I could look in your face for a thousand years / it’s like a civil war of pain and of cheer / but if you were a horse / I could help you with your chains / I could ride you through the fields / by your fiery mane May your shade be sweet / and float upon the lakes / where the sun will be / made of honey

20.5×32.5 soft pastel on felt matboard. Original unavailable. As of 12-26-09, 4029 views Nanook was one of the lucky ones.. Noah’s Lost Ark got him when he was a mere cub (he’s quite a big boy now.. over 300 pounds) and has lived there his whole life. Would you believe, he has allergies? Come spring, he gets a big congested and gets some very special treatment because of it.. but he’s a happy boy. / I truly hope that another message comes through.. that these animals DO NOT MAKE GOOD PETS.. that’s why places like Noah’s are in existence. If people would just think before they buy that cute LITTLE cub.. life would be easier on all of us especially the animals. After all.. they didn’t ask to be in the situation they are.. and there are far to many unscrupulous people out there that are in it for the money.. / At least with education, we might make a little difference.. even if we save just one animal.. it’s a beginning!! / All proceeds from any sales will be donated to Noah’s Lost Ark Sanctuary for the care and feeding of the animals. Completed 2003

Heart Built on Tears These are individually placed waterdrops on a CD. The colors come from how the light is refracted on the surface. It’s really easy to arrange shapes since you can just drag the drop with any sharp object and it will stay perfectly spherical and not loose any water :) So this is a bit feminine, but boo double standards :) / These are the descriptions I give on dA —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Location: Portland, OR / Date: August 30th, 2008 / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Camera: Canon Digital Rebel XSi (450D) / Lens: Canon Macro Lens EF-s 60mm f/2.8 / Focal Length: 60 mm / Flash: Built-In Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec / Aperture: 2.8 / ISO: 400 / — MY PHOTOGRAPHS ARE COPYRIGHTED AND NOT FOR USE OF STOCK, CANNOT BE REDISTRIBUTE, EDITED, AND/OR COPIED WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. MARION CHAMPMAN is a wonderful artist and a lover of patterns and design.. Printmaking and experimenting with all kinds of materials and colors.. she really turns my head.. Marion… truth be told.. Kauai is not a very pastel-y place.. so I took my photo and gave it a Marion Wash.. I love this shot..I do not know what this is but I spent some time with this guy..It was a very tall tree and that is how the leaves grow on it.. no branches!! Marion’s Chapman’s Pastels inspired Maddy of Smudge ARt Fame to write a most lovely lovely piece.. My gratitude for the Love here is ever growing.. Thank YOu Maddy! What beauty is this I behold ? / “A feast to ones eye”, I am told. / Leaves wrapped in soft hues. / Colors of gold, red and spiritual blues. “A tree without branches ”, she did say. / Just leaves that enfold it in every way. / Lina sad, this tree amazed me so, / I could not look at it and just let it go. It inspired me until I returned home, / In my minds eye, this is the tone. / I know Creator left this for me to do, / So I painted it gold, red and spiritual blue.
The Farm is a scenic view of one of the many farms on the rural outskirts of Canberra. Behind the scenes / Often, images are born of hard work, careful planning and a lot of patience. Sometimes though, a wonderful scene will appear by chance. It was late in the day when a storm front came over forming some striking cloud formations over the pale brown landscape. The subdued light and limited colours made for a scene similar to a pastel painting. / Canon 1Ds mkIII | EF 100-400mm Artwork / The soft pastel tones and simple composition of this work make it a fantastic addition to your decor. Let The Farm be a window into a peaceful landscape as a framed print or enjoy its’ simple beauty as a canvas. © 2008 A Spence. All Rights Reserved

Pastel on Colourfix sanded paper (burgundy) – 50cm x 35cm / (872 views as at 5/12/09) My first painting completed in 2009! Apollo Bay is a beautiful fishing village along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. We spend a week there each year, and it is nearly time for us to head back there again. The harbour is really beautiful at dusk. I did a couple of colour sketches sitting on the edge of the harbour on this balmy summer evening, just as the lights were starting to come on. I also took some photos for later reference. I saw some photo stock work by Faestock at Deviant Art and fell in love with this girl sitting on a black sweep background. I was given permission to use her as reference and she became my Angel. I used pencil, ink, and photoshop to 80 lb. cold press paper and then pencil and chalk pastels to finish.

Had a request a few months ago from George Gantt, one of the hosts of The Wild West Show Group ... for a portrait of Josey Wales (Clint Eastwood)....This is for you George! This is a Prismacolor Pencil, Pen and Ink and just a bit of Pastel Pencil. / Drawn on card stock, acid free, smooth bonded, artist drawing paper. I have also shown the steps I go through to achieve my drawings. This is for my art students that are using my RB site for study….and for all of you here at RB who may have wondered what my process is. First I draw a detailed graphite line drawing ( I love to draw so this is a fun part for me) and then I go in and play in the shadows. I tell my students to try and play in the shadows for as long a they can…this “grounds” the drawing and keeps everything in perspective…at least for me… Next, I develope the face…I feel if the face does not turn out…what is the point…I find lots of my students go to other less demanding areas to start…it turns out great and then they suffer the anexity of composing the face. This is when the left brain can start hollering VERY LOUD to put the pencils down and quit. This is why I ALWAYS do the face first. After I am satisfied with the face in its early form… I now feel that I can start my way through the rest of the drawing. Going back into the shadows and grounding the rest of the portrait. Then it is just a tighting up process…defining my colors, going in with the high-lights to seal the drawing. / Total drawing time is about 4 hours, less if I don’t find myself fighting with what colors to blend to get the effect I desire…some drawings feel like they draw themselves, others can challenge everything I feel I know. / Josey was a joy… / Thanks for viewing my art.
Sixth artwork in my new Wonderland series, based off of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” ”`Well!’ thought Alice to herself, `after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down stairs! How brave they’ll all think me at home! Why, I wouldn’t say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house!’ (Which was very likely true.) – “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” Original artwork measures approx. 12.5×19” and was created with oil pastels, colored pencils, metaliic silver pens, and marker. This is a scan of the image, so you can’t see the silver highlights on this piece (they look gray in the scan) through Alice’s hair and dress. View more of my artwork at www.lynnetteshelley.com
A scene I have often passed by, but either the light was wrong, or I didn’t have the time. / On this occasion, things fell into place, except for the fact that I had left my tripod at home !! DOH !! (on a shopping trip for provisions to Fort William !) / It is a hand-held three shot hdr, because of the extreme lighting. / Loch Lochy is reputed to have a “monster” like Loch Ness !
