Pastel Painting a gum tree in our yard with a strangler fig just starting to grow, it’s been 5 years to get to this stage, so I will have to wait about one hundred for it to be full size. /
Now you see it, now you see it again. Nothing quite like a forest scene captured in reflections on the still water, this scene spotted while recently visiting beautiful Nova Scotia and rendered in pastels.
From the Series “The Trees” a Study in Pastel…. I think that I shall never see / A poem lovely as a tree. / A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed, / Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast; / A tree that looks at God all day, / And lifts her leafy arms to pray; / A tree that may in Summer wear / A nest of robins in her hair; / Upon whose bosom snow has lain; / Who intimately lives with rain. / Poems are made by fools like me, / But only God can make a tree. Song by Joyce Kilmer..sung by Paul Robeson here
Sitting back in a lawn chair / Feet up / Breathing the fresh air / Looking at the beauty before me / A little bit of Heaven on earth
