after uploading my shot rushing past the colors today, i was approached by a member… Loramae / asking if it was ok to use this poem that inspired her. / this is the very 1st time in all of the places ive had my work, that someone has approached me with anything like this! i was totally speechless and am deeply honored my shot inspired her to create..now that is “passing it on” / so i have added to the decription her poem, ive also added that if anyone wants a card or print with the sentiment added, to let me know, ill have someone to add for me. / Loramae, thank you from the bottom of my heart. / here is her poem she wrote: Rushing Past The Colors… Laid on the floor of the world at our feet, / The beauties all of Heaven can afford… / Cast from the hand of the Great Almighty, / Creator of all things loved and adored… / Colors and hues unmistakable in beauty, / Gently caressing the days of our life… / Teasing and pleasing scents of perfection, / Waft through the air in most perfect delight… / Time in minutes and seconds build days… / such blessings live before the naked eye. / But for a moment stop and be so sure… / Your not rushing past the colors of life. Thank you again so much loramae.

These are some of the very first images I uploaded to RedBubble. I was shooting with a compact and disposable cameras, didn’t know any other photographers and certainly wouldn’t have shown my work to anyone! I was a beginner and scared. RedBubble was a fantastic discovery. I met other creative people. People who encouraged me to keep shooting, told me it was a good idea to spend every last cent of my cash on camera gear and held my hand through the terrifying world of PhotoShop. John spent an hour explaining to me what aperture is with umbrella analogies. Hien showed me the other settings on my camera. (The ones that aren’t called ‘auto’) I made friends online and off. And thanks to this circle of support, my photography and confidence started to improve. As time has gone on I have found myself slowly moving from that terrified beginner needing help every step of the way, into someone who can occasionally help others. Recently my sister bought her first SLR. I sat down with her and managed to explain what aperture is (she didn’t need the umbrella analogy). RedBubble is a vibrant community, full of artists at many places on their creative journey. And it is this mix of people that make this place so enriching to be a part of. Without those more advanced photographers and friends who guided me, I would have never learned and developed as fast as I have (and continue to). Now I hope to give something back to the community that helped me along for so long, and perhaps to give someone else the opportunities for friendship and support I have enjoyed on my creative journey so far.

WOW ..I WOKE UP FEELING PRETTY BLUE.. THEN I WROTE ABOUT IT.. THEN… YOU GUYS RESPONDED WITH SUCH GLORIOUS LOVE THEN… ONE OF MY FAV POEMS FEATURED IN MY FAV GROUP…CORE THEN.. MY FAVE SOUL SEEKER/ARTIST KUMARJI . JUST WROTE A JOURNAL REMINDED ME…..........ONE YEAR TODAY.. I LEFT THE DEPTHS OF WHAT I ‘THOUGHT’ A FAILED LIFE AND DID NOT KNOW WHO I WAS…..AGAIN... AND THAT MORNING I WENT TO MY COMPUTER AND OPENED UP TO A SITE CALLED RED BUBBLE AND THE REST AS THEY SAY IS HISTORY!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU RED BUBBLE!! / THANK YOU TO MY LOVERS OF LIFE HERE ALL!!!!!!! I TOTALLY LOVE YOU!! PS HERE IS MY FIRST JOURNAL ENTRY BACK IN ‘THE DAY’ THIS WAS A FEW DAYS AFTER I LOGGED ON HERE.. BOY.. ONE YEAR LATER..GEESZZ I GOTA JOB THAT GIVES ME ALL THE TIME I NEED FOR MY ART / AND WRITING AND I HAVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! linaji FEB 12TH 2008 I am yet to be bubbled out Last night I just had to stop. For some of these practiced veterans on this site who have honed the holiness of their craft will attest to I am sure; it is a prize when one finally lets go and pays attention to that which is really the peg that fits into the round hole, the round jpeg…hehe. I have scattered my writing, my photo’s and my passion all over my bedroom for years. Recently I have used this beautiful arena here at Red Bubble, as a catharsis for my fledgling momentum towards the me I have discovered in the last few days. I have made some pretty bold decisions. I am going back to basics and pursuing the dreams I have let go of over the years. Wait, I have to be honest, there were no dreams, I never dreamed that I would pursue art, or any craft thereof, it was my brothers domain as his work was well in the making since I was a child. I remember his ability to watch TV and draw at the same time. Still to this day, he does exactly that, watch some media piece, perhaps a movie of his choice while he works. I am having a hard time today deciding what to do but I have promised a friend I would help her out by selling a product or several that have to do with a branch of business I have been interested in and actually had a business in over the last few years.. Interior Design (emphasis on Green Design). I just don’t feel it. I am trying to decide; no I think I have decided that I need to take up my calling. The trick is the money thang.. Anyway with the unlimited supply of money and ideas available perhaps after I go through the motions of showing up for life today the answers will come, that is what I am betting on. So off I go leaving my dearest RB pals for a bit and sift through the day. I leave this journal entry with hope, happiness and a bit more clarity than I have enjoyed in a while. / LindaR / reply I can so relate to your writing and feelings and perspective – thanks for saving me some “ink” :) / / Nancy Fischer / reply same here. i decided – in november as a matter of fact that my creative energy deserved attention and have found in my writing and with color and design and abstrackts and landscape phototos, etc. that i can breathe again. i will not compromise my art or writing to a journalist or someone who suggests that i should this or i should that. right now having it be my lifeline is good enough. the money thing, yes that’s something we all have to manage, at least to pay our bills – i was a six figure girl for a long time but couldn’t put two sentences of a poem together. i’m happier now. stay basic and love what you do. you never know where that can lead…. life is so much more than money. there’s art and beauty and love and friendships and the sea and …. and… and… and…..on and on and on…….. / Add your comment as a reply to Nancy Fischer / ) * / adgray / reply / / Yes Linaji we must pay dues in this world. / [You just encouraged me to put up my latest poem – “Paying Dues”] / Once there was a time shamans and bards were honoured guests the households privileged to have them visit, wealth was to have your own live with you. / But now artists are seen as “Bludgers” as the Australian slang would describe it / Yet history is recorded from the cross references of culture – created by artists / And mankind seek art in all it’s forms to express themselves or escape their woes / You think they’d like us a bit more and give us a hand to let us get on with it huh? ~ adg xox / PS I decided I was a writer when an ankle injury forced me to be house bound and on crutches for the best part of 8 months and in all that time I saw no one but my mother and my children. I could not return to uni and finish my arts/education degree but more frustratingly I could not go to the book store or library to satisfy my thirst for reading. So I wrote my own book – a saga too large for here! And finally I showed my family what I was “wasting my time doing” and found the support from one brother – one out of 20 family members but one was enough I declared myself a writer! ~ adg xox / / MAN O MAN.. WHAT A TRIP.. THANK YOU SO MUCH KUMARJI.. YOU HAVE TRULY MADE MY DAY AS RED BUBBLE HAS HELPED TO MAKE MY LIFE… BITCHEN!!!!!* (Serioius.. I never used that word when it was in vogue.. but it came to me today.. my one year here…. and well.. today it totally fits!!!)*

On the weekend I threw and gave away about half of my clothing, and 26 bags of other stuff I no longer use. I wanted the space more than the stuff, if that makes sense? Space to move, space to think, space to grow into. And as I piled things into bags I reminisced about where it had all come from, the stories which surrounded my possessions. In my prime time, I was somewhat truth or dare obsessed. It was my favorite way to meet new people – right down to business. What do you fear? loathe? How far would you go? What last made you cry? And with weekly games of truth or dare, it became a ritual to write down the best ones onto squares of cardboard. Later on, those cards, all beaten and torn, were typed and laminated onto the back of playing cards and passed around friendships for others to use. A deck of questions, poking into people’s souls. I’ve carried them around for years now. And yesterday, I threw them away. I expected to regret it straight away, but I didn’t. Because it isn’t the end of truth or dare, just the start of a new game. Anyone want to play?

The internet is a strange place, for many, like myself, it becomes a safe place, a place of refuge, warmth and protection, the life we reveal to others is portrayed on snapshots, tiny colourful glimpses of the entire picture, cryptic messages carved on the damp. cavernous walls of poems, stories and prose. Away from the internet we live, breathe, fuck, fight, earn a living, pay off debts, owe and feel obligated to people, in general we complicate our lives, more often than not, taking the easy road simply to please other people, keeping the peace to avoid conflict and confrontation. Life itself becomes a metaphor for codependency and we let others who depend on us suck the life force out of us. In taking care of others we lose ownership of ourselves… Our identities fall into the messed up, murky mosh-pit of everyday living. Some people have precious memories to look back on, images in the back of their minds that bring a smile to their faces causing them to sigh and shake their heads from side to side… Other people recall only painful nightmares and the memories that make them smile are far and few between. I think it’s important to remember that today’s experiences will one day become tomorrow’s memories, they’ll become the movies and photographs we replay in our minds over and over again… We can only change and shape those images by adding newer, happier ones to the album, and that can only be achieved in the present, by the things we do today. Wouldn’t it be great if we could put our memories through photoshop, edit, soften and enhance them? Ah shit, I’m just rambling, I haven’t written fuck all in a while and this is the only way I can get my mind back into gear… Creating letters and words out of my thoughts, that are unfortunately, due to a cocktail of mood stabilising chemicals, pretty limited. Sometimes I have to shut everything off, hold everything back, breathe everything in and close everything down in order to open myself up and let it all out. On those days it can seem like I’m non-existent… But I’m still here, just behind your computer screens, feeling and thinking, but saying nothing. We all have our secrets I guess…

As many of you know, it is very easy to insert pictures and clickable links in various places around Redbubble. If you don’t know how yet then look here and here From that same account I post a lot of journals featuring other artists work. Some journals have 20 or so clickable picture links. Some of you may be aware, but if not I hope you find this of use, it is very quick and easy to do a lot of images in a short period of time. The wording required between the two ! is exactly the same for each type of picture (postcard, laminated printed, medium square, etc) and just by changing the description means copy and paste can mean very quick multiple postings. I will show you an example (PLEASE SUBSTITUTE THE £ WITH AN ! – If I type ! the picture comes up instead of the text) £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops Gives this If you then copy and paste the above text again the next line down but replace the bolded italics bits only £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops Now by clicking on a new image and copying part of the new URL underneath stuartchapman/art/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work And replace the number and name only in the picture and copy and paste from the name of the person on the URL link. i.e. / £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work In no time 20 clickable picture links can make their way into your journal / homepage / artwork at a fraction of the time (maybe you could use that spare time to buy me a coffee!) Feel free to pass this on if you find it useful. Stuart And as a final gift I enclose the following that you can copy and paste from to get certain picture sizes (together with examples) EXTRA SMALL SQUARE / http://images-0.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/size:xsmall/view:main/1820314-18-a-velvet-dawn.jpg / SMALL SQUARE / http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/size:small/view:main/932872-50-keep-watching-the-sky.jpg / MEDIUM SQUARE / http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/size:medium/view:main/943982-44-seclusion.jpg / LARGE SQUARE / http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/cropped/size:large/view:main/2472302-17-soul-meets-body.jpg / POSTCARD / http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/backingcolor:white/product:greeting-card/view:preview/2112813-18-reach.jpg / MATTED PRINT / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/mattecolor:off%20white/product:matted-print/view:preview/979948-41-find-comfort-in-yourself.jpg / LAMINATED PRINT – WHITE / http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/border:whitewithdetail/product:laminated-print/size:small/view:preview/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work.jpg / LAMINATED PRINT – BLACK / http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:blackwithdetail/product:laminated-print/size:small/view:preview/943958-46-mercury-pool.jpg / MOUNTED PRINT / http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/1403491-17-endless-summer.jpg / CANVAS PRINT / http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/product:canvas-print/size:small/view:preview/1252507-26-a-watched-sky-never-stops.jpg / FRAMED PRINT / http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/framecolor:black/framestyle:flat30/mattecolor:off%20white/product:framed-print/size:small/view:preview/2135403-17-a-beautiful-life.jpg / STANDARD SHAPE – EXTRA SMALL / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xsmall/view:main/2332068-17-spooky.jpg / STANDARD SHAPE – SMALL / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:small/view:main/1000332-42-field-of-dreams.jpg / STANDARD SHAPE – MEDIUM / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:medium/view:main/993798-41-stranger-things-have-happened.jpg / STANDARD SHAPE – LARGE / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:large/view:main/2130742-17-if-columbus-was-wrong-id-drive-straight-off-the-edge.jpg / STANDARD SHAPE – EXTRA LARGE / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/size:xlarge/view:main/1168524-28-cerulean-blue.jpg /
