Highly Commended: Hawkesbury District Agricultural Association Show, May 2009 Wandering through the Organic Garden section of the Netherby Homestead in Fagan Park, I came across this amazing flower of the Passionfruit. On it, a bee was gathering pollen and drinking the nectar. Now, looking at the flower, who would have set out to design one with special pollen covered pads which ensure that bees get covered with it as they circulate around the flower? Truly, one of the wonders of Creation! Technical Stuff: Nikon D80, 18-200mm VR lens @ 200mm, hand held. Program, ISO 200, 1/200sec@f5.6, Pattern metering, Auto Exp & WB.

I’m very likely on the verge of self-imposing a ban on posting Macro-flower shots…however…I’ve been wanting to shoot some Passionflowers for the longest time. Their unique beauty intrigues me. I have been very fortunate that over the last couple of weeks, through the kindness of others, to have had 2 come my way. Thanks to Rob Jenner for availing this one to me! (That’s a nice way of describing going into your neighbours yard while he was away isn’t it Rob?! At least your conscience kicked in and you called and asked first…I was a woman on a mission!) My obsession with Passionfruit Vines continues… As well as adoring the flowers, I am intrigued by the tendrils that sprout from them abundantly & find myself exploring where they began, where they are going, where they are heading, and “who” they meet along the way. Somehow (to me at least!) they symbolise LIFE. One of these tendrils reached down from above, the other up from below. They met, entwined and became a part of each other. Hundreds of these ‘romances’ occur all over the vines…and I was inspired to capture one! Canon EOS 30D / Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens / f/4 ISO 100 Shutter Speed 1 sec Entwinement measures 2 cm from join to end.
