Mr.Roland died two days after I took that picture,he was a realy good friend and I use to tease him a lot.He was blind but always recognised me because he knew my voice«Ah!....« Gigi de St-Hippolyte»he used to say , holding my hand.He never asked for much only to organised his meal in a way he could easily eat by himself and to give him his chaplet for the ceremony on sundays.A great person , very generous and smiling all the time. The worst part for him was not being able to go to the bathroom ,I think that idea killed him ,he was so proud. He died very peacefully with her daughter and son ,hand in hand .The hand you see in the picture is his son’s .Let’s say that if I wasn’t passionnate about my job I couldn’t do it . / 2900+ views / /

PLEASE READ THIS. Taken in remote Nigeria. I and the team were waiting for the ferry to cross then Nile and continue our long journey to Tunga Zuga Village in kebbe state. Often my work as a missionary, working with extreme poor and sick children can be very emotional.Tears of sorrow and heartbreak, desperation and frustration overwhelm me as I and the small mission team do what we can with the little we have to help. yet there are times like this one when there is joy and happiness as I see people and scenes of great beauty. Truly God has blessed me with a wonderful life. I have never had the joy of owning my own home, or having a nice car or wealth. yet I am so happy to have a relationship with Jesus.God supplies all my needs, and I have travelled with God to many villages and he has blessed many. Life is more than a job,Career, wealth or designer cloths. Life is living in Gods presence everyday and experiencing his love and peace. Life for me is doing what is in Gods heart and that is helping the extreme poor. My Inspiration and passion is from God. I Live for him and he lives through me. I have been on mission and not a penny in my pocket, yet my heavenly father has met my needs, concerning Food, lodging, travel and covered all expenses. One one occasion, he sent an angel to pay my hotel bill. While in India The Lord moved me so much to travel overnight on a train, a day early to return to London. If I had not obeyed his leading, I would have been killed in a terrorist bombing. Its a wonderful Life with God. [Taken in Natural Light]. Taken on the banks of the river Nile, remote Nigeria. I got into conversation with this Muslim girl and I felt s deep compassion for her, as she said She sells peanuts to get money to help her Grandfather who cares for her and her brother and two sisters. Her mother is dead and when she died the father just left and never returned. She told me that she only sold three packets that day and she was selling from around 10 am to 7pm. She did not make enough even to buy basic foods. She spoke good English so I knew she had had some education. I and my fellow mission workers bought what she had left. Then I asked her If I could pray for her. She said yes. I asked God to open her heard adn reveal himself to her. We led to to Christ. She wept and the lord really did touch her. We now visit her village often. All proceeds from sale of my art, or donations made via our charity website goes to help extreme poor and sick in remote and rural villages of Africa. We do not take anything out of it. I invite all to Please visit Philadelphia Mission Africa Charity website: / http://www.philadelphia33.org/ Camera: Canon EOS 400D. views: 863 / favs: 23 My origami calendar / / I feel my heart being pulled when we are not together, / Longing for the day we are with each other. / The thread between us will never break; / Our destinies are tied by the red string of fate. / / The red string of fate is based on a Chinese myth that the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women destined to be soulmates. This myth is has been adapted into other east asian cultures as well. I first became familiar with it by watching anime; though in those cases, one would attempt to match up couples by tying their fingers. This image, while on one hand based on that Chinese legend, is one that defines me. With the red thread forming the heart, I frame what is currently my greatest passion: miniature origami. I fold using tweezers, and sometimes with needles (I show a needle here, though for these hearts I only used tweezers as they are not that small). The hearts of paper and string, while representing my passion, also represent my soul, and how my fate is bound by the constraints of life. I’m in my own little world bound by a thread of fate; though my passion lies in a world of paper. While most women primarily use needles for sowing; I primarily use them for tiny origami :P I would adjust the position of the objects here with tweezers, and sometimes got magnetic reactions between the tweezers and the needle. They say opposites attrack… but they are both metal :] Each heart was folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper. Taken with an Olympus FE-340. Great for Valentines day or as love letters, because you and your loved ones were destined by fate.
