meerimages loved my other rodeo shot ,so I thought I’d add this one too, just for her. / The connection between rider and horse is apparent when you consider this shot was captured during a barrel race. The horse is in full gallop and the rider standing high in the stirrups to allow her horse its full stretch, and they moved as one. / Picton Rodeo 2007.

On holiday in Cromer and came across this rusty old partnership, it has for me an underlying message. It reminds me of marriage in many ways…..over time it can become a bit old and battered, or may end up wanting different things in different directions but if the muck hits the fan will still give each other a helping hand.

mixed media on canvas 24” x 20” i made this piece when i was in the beginning of a 5 year relationship…. much love and awe going on. the creation began with newspaper on canvas. i have always loved the colors in the grocery store adds… and all the fruit. i don’t remember having a plan for this piece as is usually the case. it appeared to me. as you can see, most of the newsprint is painter over…except the apple and the space around it that forms the eye. the pink and stripes and a few changes on the male character came more recently….after we separated. i have a picture of it before. maybe it should go on red bubble, too. i celebrated when i sold the original for 1200 dollars. the relationship was over and i felt it appropriate that it find a new home …...and it did. it lives in california now. partnership as sacred…...

I was originally going to call this Incognito, as a reaction to always being encouraged or commissioned to make the subject matter stand out – but they looked so at ease and comfortable in their chosen setting that I decided to emphasise that aspect instead.
