I have MS Windows Vista Operating System on my computer (I know it sucks). Here’s the problem: I have been trying to download the Ulead Particle Filter for some time with no luck. I mean, It downloads, but when I go to Photoshop, open a photo and then try to open the filter, I get this error message with a big red X in front “Unable to load particle.dll.” If anyone here at Redbubble can help me with this, please bubblemail me personally. Surely there is a solution to the problem. I am leaving for work soon (another crazy/chaotic day at the studio), so will check mail when I get home late tonight. Thanks in advance!! Glenna

Poem Written in a Copy of Beowulf At various time I have asked myself what reasons / Moved me to study while my night came down / Without particular hope of satisfaction / The language of the blunt-tongued Anglo-Saxons / Used up by the years my memory / Loses its grip on words that I have Varily / Repeated and repeated. My life in the same way / Weaves and un weaves its weary history / Then I tell myself: it must be the soul has some secret / Sufficient way of knowing / That it is immortal, that its cast encompassing / Circle can take in all, accomplish all / Beyond my anxiety and beyond this writing / The universe waits, inexhaustible, inviting. Recently I have been thinking about the basic philosophy in eastern religions of the interconnectedness of the individual and the universe, of how a person is not just in the universe, not even just a part of it, but is actually one with the universe; they are one and the same. In modern physics, the analogy would be the observer and the observed, especially as described in the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum physics, which was developed by two physicists, two big guys in the field, Bohr and Heisenberg, and is still the most accepted interpretation of quantum physics. This even goes far into what you were saying one time when you and I were chatting about genetics and such, basically in physical experiments there is a division between the observer and the observed. In quantum physics the observed would be like a subatomic particle. The problem then because that the observer can be described in terms of classical physics, which was just a refinement of our everyday language, but is not adequate for describing the observed which must be described in terms of probabilities (for reasons we could get into someday if you’re interested because subatomic particles don’t really exist somewhere, but show a tendency to exist somewhere… we can discuss that.. later its really fascinating and is one of the hardest concepts in modern physics to grasp, but once you do… wow) You see all of the stuff I’ve been looking into being tied up here, from pantheism to language and words to physics to everything.. anyway, okay, the problem in quantum physics then becomes how the observer is to measure the desired observed particle and in the end they found that one can’t just speak of the observed particle but must look at it as a system formed of the observer and the observed, where in the observer actually helps determine the properties of the observed. So the observer does not just sit back and measure a subatomic particle, but actually becomes part of the system, part of the measurement and can’t be separated from it. And this even goes further in that an observer can’t know everything possible about a subatomic particle because the more that is known about one aspect of the particle, the less can be known about something else about the particle. This is known as the uncertainty principle. Now keep in mind this is only the case for quantum physics and the measurement of subatomic particles, due to the nature of such particles, because in a way they are not even particles not in the sense that you are used to thinking of a particle, like speck of dust or dirt, and nobody has really seen many of these particles they’ve only seen these particles interact with other particles and thus determined their existence and their properties… but the really fascinating thing is how these particles can be described not as just things with mass, things with volume and shape but can be described as energy or waves (I am not talking about ocean waves but waves as in radio waves, waves of energy through ocean waves really are waves of energy as well, but lets not diverge) So these particles aren’t just particles but can be also seen as energy or as waves this the duality of mass and energy which I probably shouldn’t get into here, perhaps another time. But aside from the particulars of this, goes back into the interconnectedness of the universe, basically the two basic things in the universe: mass and energy; that under classical physics were seen as completely separate and distinct have now become entangled so that the universe is really composed of one thing, being mass-energy.
