A snowy winter path in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Almost a black and white image, however it’s full colour, as much as an overcast sky allows in the winter The Prairies / frost / Winter / Parks / Monochromatic images

Moraine Valley, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…. I also will be uploading a color version of this at some point. I really wanted a B&W though for the dramatic light play, it was utterly dramatic in the first light of the morning….scenes like this are just what I live for, and the shadow in the bottom I intentionally made sure to shoot ‘in’ the shot, as I wanted the hint of the split rail fence. Well let me know what ya think! I am groovin’ on HDR B&W I think though / —John
View from Belvadere Castle overlooking Turtle Pond. Turtle Pond, so named because of its occupants, is also used in the summer time as a fishing ground for at lest two black and one white heron.
This was taken, from a lookout, of people (the size of ants) walking on Fox Glacier, in New Zealand. This was taken with a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera. Fox Glacier is part of the Westland Tai Poutini National Park (established 1960) which extends from the highest peaks of Kā Tiritiri o te Moana/Southern Alps to the remote beaches of the wild West Coast. It is an area of magnificent primeval vistas; snow-capped mountains, glaciers, forests, tussock grasslands, coast, lakes, rivers and wetlands. This world-class scenic landscape has been recognised as such with World Heritage status.

First snow this year / Photo made in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands – Oranjepark *Music kiosk in the snow… as if time stood still… * My first snow pic this year – maybe ever … At least, I can’t remember I ever made snow pics, so if I did, they were not worth keeping or remembering… / This one turned out blue by accident really … I had forgotten to reset my white-balance settings. – happy accident. / I did desaturate the blue quite a bit, and did some sharpening on it… No further post-editing :)
Shot with a 4×5 view camera. 15 minute exposure with smallest aperture for maximum depth of field. High-res scan of negative.
Pike’s Peak as seen from Cherry Creek State Park reflects the Sunrise, a cold dad to be sure when I was shooting this, amazing to think that Peak is about 55 miles away as well! Processed in HDR, thoughts welcomed! / —-John

Red Warmth Of A Winter Sunrise Minolta 5D / Minolta 50mm f1.7 Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / iso 200-50mm-f4.5 / Custom WB One of the things I love about Winter here in Colorado is the way the sun manages to have these incredible sunrises and sunsets, there is something about this time of the year that turns the sky to fire a lot, and on this morning, this was no exception to the rule! Captured at Cherry Creek State Park, I froze my butt off, but it sure was worth it! Hope ya all enjoy it! / —-John ;http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/8374272

Spending a winter day near Half Dome in Yosemite National Park can be some of the most exciting minutes of your life! To me that’s what photography is all about … “capturing those moments for eternity.”
This is one of the first portraits I did, for an assignment, when I was taking the NYIP course. Yep, it’s my beautiful mom! :) I just added the texture now.
