  • It was a frosty morning in early April last year when I once again visited the wonderful grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn where so often I have been able to find and capture nature´s beauty. I was not disappointed on this day either. It cannot be denied that this is an artificial landscape, not a natural one, as it is a mixture of a park and the meadows of a farm. But it is just this mixture which is so full of harmony and beauty that it attracts me again and again. And with me hundreds of other people. Fortunately, however, they do not tend to go out on early frosty mornings … I am sure that you would, would you not? So I might meet you there during a dreamful walk? I would like to dedicate this shot to Ginger Barritt. She was so kind as to recommend my gallery in her latest journal in very moving words. To thank her publicly with all my heart is the least I can do. Please take a look yourself at her material which shows a rich sense of beauty. Please press here Groeneveld near Baarn, 9th April 2008, 8.04 am / Nikon D80, Nikkkor 18-200 mm at 70 mm / F 32, 1/60, ISO 200

  • The park of the country-house of Groeneveld near Baarn is a wonderful place for walks. And for taking pictures. So many of you will know parts of the park by now from my shots. / Indeed this morning in late September was very much worth going there again. Indeed I wish I could be there now! Under the same circumstances! It is a place to heal your soul. On a grey February morning like today it is just a dream. • I love rainy, overcast, windy days. Someone has to, I suppose. The pink/purple of the fireweed has yet to reach its full splendor. As Alaskan legend has it, when fireweed blooms all the way to the top of its spire – the six-week countdown to winter begins. Some of us can hardly wait. It felt great to get out in the elements! Featured in DSLR Users Only – An honor. Thank you. Featured in Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams – An honor. • A fairly local park at Great Harwod Lancs UK . / Taken early this morning. / EOS 400d

  • It rained over two inches today and the wind was downright nasty. So of course, I decided to take a stroll through Bandon Park in the heart of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Light was practically nonexistent, but the downpour had just ended, so I mounted my camera on the ol’ tripod and started shootin’ up a storm. Turns out, it was a much more beautiful autumn evening than I ever could have hoped for! The city of Williamsport owns this beautiful park and it is meticulously maintained by our Parks & Recreation Department. The leaves will all be gathered and will be used to make a wonderfully rich mulch. The mulch is used by the city and is also made available to local residents in the spring for their gardening needs. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens. The lens was set to its 24mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/6th sec at f/8. ISO was set to 400. This photograph was taken on a Manfrotto tripod. Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated. © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
