Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! The symbolism of this image is deep. Man against nature, his arrogance even when dwarfed by the age and strength of nature. / This was taken in Arches National Park at Delicate Arch in the Fall of 2005. There are many photographs of Delicate Arch and I didn’t want to duplicate what had already been done. With a man dressed in a black suit, he appears in a unique vision of the famed Delicate Arch stepping out from another time and place.

A digitaly manipulated photo to appear as a painting. The mountain stream helps substain life both below and above the surface.A stream’s ecosystem includes the area immediately around the stream—the damp banks and vegetation on both sides, the trees that hang over it, the air above it. And it includes the stream’s entire watershed as well.We should do what we can to help preserve these beautiful wonders of nature before much of its flora and fauna are gone.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

Suddath Due to a successful brook trout restoration program, for the first time in 30 years, anglers are now able to fish for brook trout in park streams of the Smoky Mountains. These streams were once ruined by logging. The brook trout was also rooted out my non native rainbow and brown trout. Our waters are precious for our life and all of natures, help keep them clean. This image was taken on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, Great Smoky Mountain N.P.

Bec and I took a two night sailing trip on the boat ‘Habibi’ around the Whitsunday Islands. We moored one night in Tongue Bay to see turtles coming up for their morning breath and then scrambled over a ridge to reach Hill Inlet. Unfortunately the tide was high so we were unable to see the whispy sand that’s in all the postcards. Combining this scene with the story of Steve Irwin’s death, the European backpackers on the beach freaked out. Whitehaven Beach is the white strip of sand in the background of this photo. I was interested to hear that due to it possessing some of the world’s most pure and fine sand (~99% silica), it was used in manufacturing the Hubble Telescope’s mirror – in which capacity I’d like to find out. Date Picture Taken: 7/2/2008 / Camera: Canon EOS 350D / Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM / Polarising Filter
