In a few minutes the Sun will come up in Titusville, Florida and from this park on the waterfront, dedicated to America’s Astronauts, the Space Shuttle’s special housing building will become visible in the foreground to the left of this capture. / A near perfect cold winter morning in Florida.
This is near Jenkins Gate on Mamtor in the Peak District
Sunrise At Upper Beaver Meadows It pays to get places early, you all shoulda seen the out of state photographers come screaming around the corner in their 2 cars, slamming on the brakes, parking, and trying to lug what seemed like 200 pounds of equipment stuffed into massive LowePro bags when I was shooting this lol Anyways, this was quite a scene and one that I was pretty thrilled about capturing, the clouds just seem to skyrocket by me. Photographed in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. / Thoughts welcomed! / —-John You can see more of my work on my website at jdebordphoto.com

Sometimes you have to look away from your main subject to find unexpected beauty. This shot was taken in September 2005, while I photographed sunrise at Canoe Lake in Canada’s Algonquin Provincial Park in Muskoka, Ontario. I followed my own simple rule and looked left, right and behind me just to ensure I wasn’t missing out on Nature’s beauty – and I was rewarded with this tranquil scene to my immediate right. The silver-blue dominates the scene, even to the soft light playing across the wooden pier and on the hulls of the upturned boats on the lake’s bank on the right of the image. Can you a hint of red in this shot? It’s the red-and-white buoy which is barely discernible as it bobs just above the longest of the piers. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. This was taken with a little 3-megapixel point-and-shoot, a Pentax Optio 33LF which I still have, for purely sentimental reasons. Featured in WHICH WAY, September 2009. This morning it is very chilly here in the Rockies….37 when I got up….a beautiful sunrise at the lake…will post those pics later…but I wanted to share our first autumn snow on Longs Peak…..I can’t say I am really ready for snow yet, but it sure was gorgeous to see in the morning light….like God sprinkled powdered sugar over the peaks….. :-) Estes Park, Colorado
This dramatic sunrise was captured along the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. This is an hdr image with 3 shots merged together using Photomatix Pro 3.2 and Details Enhancer. I used a Canon DSLR EOS 350D camera, tripod and 18-55mm lens.
