Myrtle beech forest at Tarra Bulga State Forest, Victoria, Australia. This photo was taken up near where the Gippsland fires had burnt in Feb 2009. Luckily The park didnt really get touched bar the spot fire near the information building/rangers office. Tarra Bulga National Park surived the Black saturday fires and still stands though a few kilometres down the road it is a different story all together from the top of Mount Tassie right to the bottom of the mountain everything has been wiped out including peoples homes, farms, vechiles, communication towers, forest plantations etc.

Yosemite’s giant waterfalls, towering cliffs, rounded domes, and massive monoliths make it a natural marvel and one of the most visited places on Earth. Yosemite National Park is located in California’s Eastern Sierras. It is comprised of Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, Glacier Point, and other high country wilderness areas. One of the main attractions of Yosemite are its majestic waterfalls. The main falls are Yosemite, Bridalveil, Vernal, Nevada, and Illilouette. The best time to visit the falls is in May since the water is gushing. Bridalveil usually has a neat rainbow in the afternoon.

A young bull elk keeps gaurd over two cows during the autumn rut. The Gibbon river Valley flows though the west central portion of Yellowstone Natonal Park. A week earlier this meadow was the site of great battles between mature waring bulls, but now, as the rut wains this adolescent bull persists with cows allready visited by his elders.

Background Information: / Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. The roadside Pearsons Lookout, on the Castlereagh Highway just south of Capertee village, gives a view over the expansive Capertee Valley / Surrounded by the wonders of World Heritage listed wilderness, the Capertee valley is the world’s second largest canyon. Capertee is 1 kilometre longer than the Grand Canyon, but not quite as deep. Sandstone cliffs dominate the escarpment, drawing down into a deep chasm carved into the environment over millions of years. With tranquil vistas and serene mountain landscapes the Capertee Valley is abundant in flora and wildlife. Under the sandstone layer stretches an enormous layer of coal and oil shale. Rising majestically out of the valley floor is a monolith in size and spectacle. The impressive peak, Pantoney’s Crown, beckons the keen walker to climb its summit. From the top a 360° panorama, of the dramatic and breathtaking valley. The Capertee valley is located in The Gardens Of Stone National Park The Blue Mountains if a World Heritage Area , a few hours by road west of Sydney and are a must when visiting Sydney. THIS IS A BIG IMAGE VIEW LARGER FOR BEST RESULTS This shot was taken from Echo Point in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at sunset, it was created from 5 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. The rock formations to the left are known as “The Three Sisters” the image was taken at sunrise looking past the Sisters certainly have a great view. The Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must !

Here is the Landscape view of Yosemite Valley at sunrise with a blanket of snow. The whole valley awash in golden light and a new blanket of snow. What a magnificent sight, and such a willing subject! image was shot with a Cannon 1DS Mark ll and a 24-70 mm wide angle lens /

This image of the Right Mitten framed in between two rocks shows the shadow of the Left Mitten falling across it. The Sky was doing some amazing things behind me and I noticed that most people had truned for the sunset. I steedfast remained shooting into the park. The change in colour taking place in the Valley as the sunset came closer was amazing. The right rock is slightly burned in but I am not one to play in Layers. This is a 3 image HDR given only a slight adjustment. The resulting image was then processed in CS3 with a slight adjustment to straighten the horizion and curves to add a little extra contrast. All 3 images to make the HDR were shot with a Nikon D70

The Fenland Trail in the morning affords a good opportunity to see wildlife moving around the marsh and river areas. This trail connects to the Bow River Trail which actually goes all the way into Banff townsite proper. If you have time, this is a nice easy walk to get to this area without actually having to drive to get to it. The Vermillion Lakes are slightly to the west of the Fenland Trail and you can either walk to them or drive your car and use the pulloffs available. It’s a bit noisy being so close to the Trans Canada Hwy, but the scenery more than makes up for it. Throughout the day you’ll see numerous waterfowl frequenting the area. The real draw, however, is in the evening when the winds are low and the water is still, making the lake surface a mirror reflection of the now beautifully lit Mt Rundle in the background. Worth clicking Large to see all the stars. 30 second exposure of a moving cloudbank backlit by the moon between two pinnacles in the Gardens of Stone National Park (isn’t that the coolest name for a NP?). Taken around midnight. First new landscape pic for a while. A friend invited me to another friend’s birthday in this amazing location. I’ve never been to this area on the other side of the Blue Mountains and was just gobsmacked as we drove down this valley with these majestic mountains rising on either side. I spotted this vantage point on the way in and as the party wore on snuck away to get some shots and was presented with this vista as I rolled up in the car. Managed to get about 15 mins in before it started to sleet. Man it was freezing with the wind coming off the late snow. The party was in an old art deco hotel being lovingly restored by this young couple and their six(!) children (oldest 11!!) Can’t believe the energy some people have or their vision. This hotel is located in a near-deserted old shale mining town at the end of a valley you can only access by dirt road about 4 hours from Sydney. It was all quite surreal – particularly when some of the girls at the party heard I was a photographer and decided they wanted to do a Norman Lindsay style “bacchanalia” photoshoot at the end of the night – just hilarious but OMG working with drunk models is hard work – “sit still”, “stop giggling” – never again! Still I managed to do both my favourite styles of photography in one night so it’s churlish to complain. Canon 1Ds Mk III / Tv: 30 secs / Av: f/3.2 / ISO: 1600
