Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

Mono Lake, California is a place of special beauty. Tufas are limstone formation that only built up under water; because water level has been drained to provide drinking water to Southern California Tufas are now visible outside of water. Mono Lake lies in the High Sierras just outside the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

Right place, right time, right settings = one happy HA. Note the fish in his talons, it really blends in well. May have to view in large format to really see the “catch”.

Opinions needed. I need one or two more images for my Deserts Calendar and this is one candidate. Thumbs up or down? I found these fascinating formations of clay to remind me of pawns on a chessboard. Last Light illuminating the odd formations of Goblin Valley State PArk in Utah.

It’s all about the journey, not the destination…..I have to stop and remind myself of this sometimes….to remember to be present in the moment and just enjoy the beauty of it. Nature Trail at Tyler State Park, Tyler, Texas.

A very narrow slot canyon appropriately named Spooky Gulch twists and turns for several hundred meters through a dry desert landscape. Its walls tower many meters overhead while the opening in front of you seems to get smaller and smaller. Those hikers that are both brave and thin enough to fit through will find that they are able to make it to the opposite side. At its narrowest point, the little canyon is only about 30 centimeters wide! [Escalante National Monument] [Spooky Gulch info and photos] / Copyright © 2004 Brian W. Schaller – All rights reserved. Wild deer in Yosemite National Park – USA I spent ages with a group of these deer. Walked slowly to approach, after approx 15 mins i was surrounded by them, couldn’t shoot as they were too close, one just 10cm away, so we just hung out together until the cold drove me inside. Was a beautiful experience. They have the most gorgeous eyes :)) I loved every minute in Yosemite. This was taken on my recent visit to Texas, at Tyler State Park. Going there again for the firt time in many years brought back so many wonderful memories…. In my youth I spent a lot of time at this park….it was my place of solitude….to write, draw, walk, or just sit and take in nature…..my escape to reality.

What could these Pelican’s possibly be chatting about? What worries do THEY have? / Left Pelican: “So, how is the fishing today?” / Pelican on right replies: “Oh, it’s been pretty good. When are you going to properly secure your pole with a rope? Have you not read the First Landing State Park pole owners association booklet?” Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel visible in the background.

The unique thing about this state park, located close to Chattanooga Tennesse, is it has the Tennessee River going along two sides of it. I was able to get sunsets across the river as well as sunrises (thanks ros..lol)
