Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Morning sun filters through the trees at John Olivers Cabin with a few dogwoods in the background…The cabin is almost completly surrounded by split-rail fence also…...The Oliver’s bought land in the Cove in 1826 and this cabin site remained in the family until the Park was established. The house is typical of many found on the eastern frontier in the mid-1850s, and reflects the skills and techniques brought into the mountains by descendants of British and European immigrants. This cabin is located on the Cades Cove Loop Road, in the Great Smoky Mountain N.P.

However, they are very simple in their construction, and can be assembled with few tools even on hard or rocky ground. They also can be built without using any nails or other hardware; such hardware was often scarce in frontier locations.These fences are sometimes refered to as Worm Fence due to the back and forth placements…This cabin is located on the Cades Cove Loop Road, in the Great Smoky Mountain N.P.

As exploration expanded, large deposits of iron ore were discovered in the mountains several hundred miles to the west. In fact, by the early 1800s, the range we now refer to as the Great Smoky Mountains was known throughout the growing United States as the Great Iron Mountains. This shot has to be considered as a junk, the unsuccessful one… Every single photographer would be ashamed to display it publicly. Me too! I was walking around in a rosegarden of Marconi spa and then I saw this view. I had to make the shot like sixty in fear that the guy with bags will pass by and the image loses so much without him. So I’ve made this one even the probability for a successful shot was an absolute zero. I did it automatically, without any contemplation. Of course, I’ve gotten a very poor quality image. “Well”, I thought when I saw the result. “I’ve gotten a pure impressionistic image that I like.” I was surprised the result. However, it required some additional touch. First, I’ve made the image slightly darker, and then added texture. The latter lightened it again. Thus, I tried to strengthen the style and make it more artsy fartsy painting-like. :)
