Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

Antelope island is the largest of the Great Salt Lake’s 10 islands. From the mainland, its 28,022 acres appear barren and deserted. But Antelope Island is home to a variety of flora and fauna native to the Great Basin region. This is a great place to view wildlife. The island was without its namesake antelope for many years, but they were reintroduced in 1993 and can now be seen in many areas of the park. Deer, bobcats, coyotes, many varieties of birds and waterfowl also call the island home. But most famous are Antelope Island’s American Bison, introduced to the island in 1893 and now numbering some 600 animals

I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it ! I searched the internet for a really long exposure of Tahquamenon Falls but couldn’t find one. So I figured that my first real shot with my new 10 stop filter would be of this amazing falls. This is a blend of 3 long exposure shots. The first one was 4 minutes, the correctly exposed one was 5 minutes and the bright one was 6 minutes. / Black and white to come soon. / Canon xsi / B+W nd 1000 / B+W CPL
