  • A protester stands outside of the Lucasville prison in southern Ohio to demonstrate her opposition to the death penalty. An inmate was scheduled to be put to death on the evening this photograph was taken, but was pardoned at the last minute. Lucasville, Ohio Circa 2000

  • Its better out than in. So where it out everywhere you go and tell them Al sent ya!

  • Front view and side view of male Calypte Anna (Anna’s hummingbird). 101 grp: Work done with Corel PSP-XI. / This was done to look as if one bird is passing behind the other one. This is actually two separate images of the same bird, just the angle to the light causes the difference in the metalic reflection of the feathers on crown. The final image was achieved by importing them both in separate layers on a larger blank canvas size, mirrored one image, positioned and aligned the background. / I then cropped & adjusted the images to match in color and brightness. Erased the overlapping areas & edges of each layer to blend and merge the layers. / Some minor sharpening, slight color saturation, and digital noise reduction was also done along with the brightness/contrast midtone levels.

  • Swallows resting on the castle walls in Sirmione, Lake Garda Italy

  • WHEN I WENT FISHING THIS MORNING, I HAPPENED UPON SEVERAL SAIL BOATS ANCHORED UP JUST IN FRONT OF MY FISHING SPOT. APPERANTLEY THEY WERE ANCHORED UP HERE FOR THE WEEKEND AND THE PERSON THAT GAVE ME PERMISSION TO FISH THERE, LETS THEM USE HIS FLOATING PIER OCCATIONALLY SO THEY CAN LET THEIR PETS USE THE BATHROOM ON DRY LAND. I ACTUALLY HAD TO PLAN MY CASTING DIRECTION TO KEEP FROM HITTING TWO DIFFERENT BOATS THAT WERE MOVING AROUND IN THE SLACK TIDE AND WIND. BUT, NOBODY CAME UP WITH LEAD POISONING, SO THAT WAS GOOD. IN THIS SHOT OF A MOTOR BOAT CAPTAIN MAKING THE ROUNDS BETWEEN SAIL BOATS, IT LOOKS LIKE HE COULD BE SAYING, “PARDON ME, WOULD YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE ANY GREY POUPON”? I WONDER IF HE GETS THE FEELING LIKE HE’S WALKING ON WATER SOMETIMES. THIS BOAT AND THE OTHER 6 WERE PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE MONTEZUMA SLOUGH IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA NEAR FAIRFIELD, WHICH IS PART OF THE SACRAMENTO DELTA WATER SYSTEM. IT IS PART OF THE LARGEST NATURAL ESTUARY IN THE UNITED STATES, WITH OVER 1000 MILES OF WATER WAYS AND IT’S BASICALLY IN MY BACK YARD. I JUST LIVE 12 MILES FROM HERE, SO IT’S LOCAL FOR ME. THIS IMAGE WAS TAKEN WITH A CANON EOS DIGITAL REBEL D-300 AND A 75-300MM F:4/5.6:1 AF TELEPHOTO LENS SET AT 300MM. THE APPERATURE WAS 8.6 AND THE SHUTTER WAS 1/400 WITH AN ASA EQUIVILENT OF 160. THIS WAS ABOUT 1 HOUR AFTER SUNRISE AND THE BOATERS, WERE ALL JUST GETTING UP AND ABOUT. THEY WERE ENJOYING THEIR COFFEE AND STOWING GEAR, GETTING READY TO HEAD BACK TO THEIR HOME PORTS OR MARINAS.
