  • Fashion T’s by MizzJ – Passionate Butterfly Love it?

  • This butterfly is drinking from a rotting Arum lily seed pod. He was there for so long I think he was intoxicated. / He was very happy and so was I. I had plenty of time for focusing.

  • There is a Native American legend that says if you catch a butterfly and tell it your wish and let it go, the Great Spirit will know. In the Greek language the word “psyche” means both soul and butterfly, and the goddess Psyche was the wife of Cupid. And there is the “butterfly effect” and it is only real if you believe it to be so, very much like for “every action there is a reaction” and everything may end in chaos. One thing for sure the butterfly dances and flies for hundreds of miles before it dies, a fleeting moment in your time of something so beautiful, that you rarely notice that they are dying off, and flying less and less. Papillon du Coeur is a butterfly from the heart. “Hell where is my butterfly net…I gotta catch me one of those butterfly critters before they all die!” / Please take notice butterflies are dying and think why (?). / See more stuff at: montdragon /

  • Enjoy! _

  • Since living in France I have been trying every Spring – Summer to capture the Little Blue Butterfly that flits around our garden…we took a walk out on Monday and to my amazement not one but 3 of the little beauties were flitting around – they never seem to rest – then they found water! Not the best photo in the world as we were in the shade at this point – I would of course loved for it to have opened those wings – but I am just happy to have found 3 and captured them at rest for a minute! They are really quite small and I couldn’t get too near as they like all things move too quickly when under threat! Of course I shall carry on my quest to find one with wings open – never say never is my motto….I must admit to just clicking once focused as I didn’t want to lose the chance of capturing it! • This work was featured in the group “Out Of the Past” Small work: “Le Papillon” charcoal and pastel on Mylar, 9×7” This young French student artist wandered into my studio one evening during our open studio event. I liked her look and thought she would be a good model for my Black Butterfly series, so I asked if she would mind posing for a few photos. We had a fun visit, and she showed me her lovely Moleskine sketch journal and we also exchanged emails. I took quite a few great photos of Melodie, so I most likely will do another small work or two from them. She was a delight. Also, I am happy to realize that “Melodie” is the Muse of Music. These small studies present their own challenges. I like to complete them in one sitting and the scale is difficult for detail, but I feel that I did capture the subject’s hopefulness and creativity in this small work. Presented in a vintage tabletop swing frame.

  • Among drawers-full of specimens in some dusty University corridor, the vivid crimson, orange, and deep turquoise contrast of this butterfly leaped at me. Rusty wingtips and high-contrast wing edging full of busy detail made this specimen one I had to capture, especially because it was so small and complex.

  • This is our Papillon puppy Fender with his guitar namesake, Fender. I gave it a little Orton effect for softness.

  • The afternoon sun sent its light through its wings as it landed … just in front of me… Does this species have a name in English?

  • It sat there, perhaps drying its wings, for a long time, just moving its antennas and legs. / August 11 2009, Gothenburg, Sweden / This is the Small Tortoiseshell…not an Admiral…the blue pattern aroud their wings is what misled me into calling it an admiral…

  • Le Paon du Jour – The European Peacock Inachis io – (the daughter of Inachus…) Cancale, France – 07/09

  • Rockin pup based on Diane Swarts little mate Fender :)) / Lycra and fender guitar, rockin pupstar!!!

  • This is Fender Bender my Papillon puppy a study in black and white with a little color let back into his eyes. If you closely at the top of his left ear (right as your looking at pic) he has paint on his ears from walking along side our house after we painted last weekend! It was hard to keep him outa the paint! so curious. / Thanks to the hosts of Cats and Dogs for featuring this image / / / The Papillon (French for “butterfly”) is a small, friendly, elegant breed of dog of the Spaniel type, distinguished from other breeds by its large butterfly-like ears. The Papillon is one of the oldest of the toy Spaniels. / Papillons were bred for companionship, and make excellent watch dogs~Source cite Wikipedia
